In my maple-necked neck-thru, things are way too bright and thin with an SH-5 Custom in the bridge (I know, it should be fat and thick, but not in this guitar). I also realize that I'm don't want a Ceramic bridge p'up in this guitar, as they're very quot;stridentquot; (hard) sounding even on clean (no compression). I'm needing something with a lot of bass, a lot of mids, and very little highs. From my experience in other guitars, the Invader (or a Super Distortion) would be perfect, but they're both Ceramics. Any suggestions for this guitar, perhaps slipping an A5 magnet into the middle of the Invader (I think it has 3 magnets total)?

How much difference do caps make? I just got some Sprague orange drops form Lew as Ive heard these are good, but I about freaked when I saw how big they are. Why are they bigger than most? My bud says I should forget the caps and tone controls and go volume only as this is his preference. any thoughts??

I realized overpaying that much for an E/2 just because I liked the way it looked was just not right. I let the guy know it was just plain too much for me. I apologized but I'm pretty sure I made him mad as he was all ready to go through with it. But he can still keep his auction.

Well I bought a Digitech Bad Monkey overdrive pedal this weekend and I love it. Thank you to AESTUS for posting about them. I never would have considered one otherwise. In fact I've seen them at shops and thought the name was cool but didn't even try one because it's Digitech.

I originally had a Jazz/JB installed, but the JB was a bit bright in my guitar. The Seths sound amazing! I also changed out the pots to CTS 500K's and installed some Hovland caps. What a difference!

I was checking out the Gibson Reissue 1958 Les Paul Standard with CTS pots, bumblebee caps, lightweight aluminum tail and BurstBucker 1 amp; 2 pickups and I was wondering which Duncans sound most like the Gibson BurstBuckers.
