I'm doing some upgrades and mods to my Patriot. Partly, just for the experience. I got my Hipshot bridge in today, and I need to get some string ferrules also. The ones from Stew-Mac are $6. The ones from Callaham are $18.

Keeping it Simple
Last night on the way home I was listening to AC/DC's Back in Black album. It's one of my favorites of all time but the one thing that always keeps me listening is the tone of Angus and Malcolm. It's so freakin' awesome. No effects, nothing fancy, just a guitar plugged in to a Marshall turned up.

Duncan pickup booster or Boss GE-7...which one?
Which one of these 2 pedals is a better choice to use a boost for your tone? I have not tried either, but heard good and bad about both. I currently use 2 guitars, both with a HSS setup. Anybody with experience with one or both, please give an opinion.

First MAJOR amp repair
I've read volumes about the causes and effects of a toasted screen grid resistor and after some testing, i have figured out that my buddy's 74 bassman must have fizzed out because of power tube failure, taking the 470 ohm resistor with it.

How Do I Fatten an SG?
Guys, I've been mulling over various replacement pup combos for my SG Standard for a weeks now. I thought about Phat Cats, '59's, Pearly's, et al, and I need to just buck up and get this done. In all your expert opinions, is there any pup combo that I could use that will get me some semblance of that fat, rich, warm Les Paul-like tone (w/o buying a Paul b/c I find them to be too uncomfortable).
I know there are tremendous differences btw the Paul and SG body's that really affect the tones, but I'm just wondering if I put in something like a Seth in the neck, and some other richer, fatter pup in the bridge, whether my SG will lose that thinness and fatten up. Thanks and I promise to post some clips and pics once I get this done.

Full-Drive question
The new ones have a 3 position switch that is the comp-cut that used to be on a push pull pot and the other 2 positions are vintage mids and flat mids...here is my question, before the switch which mid setting was the pedal?

Finally bought some recording gear
Well, I made a trip to Guitar Center because I got a $25 off gift certificate from them for my B-day and had to use it buy the end of the month. I was really going for the Line 6 TonePort but they were out of them and the salesman told me some interesting things about them that made me not want to buy them, so I ended up buying:
Tascam US-122 USB Audio/MIDI Interface w/ Cubase LE

Not humcancelling in one position...
I had 3 Chubtone pickups (which are great!) in my Strat but I replaced the bridge with a Little 59, and now the bridge middle position does not cancel hum...If I switch the neck and middle pickups out for one another, will it then cancel hum?

Running EMG's on no battery
I have been toying with this idea of having no battery and an active or even a kill switch for the battery and going direct to board.
