What kind of string instrument is it that you hear in most chinese instrumental music?? It sounds like a kind of guitar, but it has a special sound to it.. I think it's very beautiful, and I would like to know if anybody knows what it is, because it could be interesting to learn how to play one. The music is very relaxing and good to listen to if you want to get rid of stress etc.

In true SD Forum style, can I hear from you guys who have successfully used pickups such as Hot Rails / Cool Rails / Fast Track 1/2 etc etc in the NECK position of a guitar.

so i've been looking at the new Dan Donagen (Disturbed) and Scott Ian (Anthrax) signature models from Washburn. they 2 version of each of them, a lower quality model (70) and a higher quality model (75). one of the main differences between them is the pickups. the 70's got a matched pair of Duncan Distortions, where as the 75's got an El Diablo in the bridge. (the Dan Donegan has a 59 in the neck and the Scott Ian has no neck pup.) now i currently have a DD in the bridge of my ibanez iceman and really like what it can do. i also have a jb in the bridge of my epi les paul and...well comon, it's the freakin jb! so my question is as follows: how does the El Diablo compare to the DD and the JB tonewise?

Well I'm finally getting around to finishing my all black strat project and I need the following:

I getting ready to wire up my guitar. It has an H/H set up with a 3 way blade switch, and two knobs. I would like it to have an individual volume for each humbucker and no tone control. How would I go about that? Thanks

OK i for years have been wanting a JCM 800, since i was teen in the 80's. In fact i used to go to a Toronto store every Saturday and dream about an 800 and a 4x12 cab.. When i got older Marshall had changed to 900 series and i ended up buying other companies amps. I hear the 800's can be extremely great sounding when set up right.

i swapped today the pickups of my hamer chapparal to my favorite emg85/sa/sa set i bought from ebay (for 76$!!!!) and they were made in july 1989. Now i have two other emg85, one that is made in 93 and one in 2004.............i always found that the one made in 2004 had less output and had a slightly different EQ from the 93 made one. So i supposed emg at some time changed something on the pickup or the preamp itself on later years. Well after installing the 89 one i am sure newer emgs ARE actually different. The 89 made one and the 93 do sound the same but the 2004 has the differences i mentioned before..................So i can say i surely prefer the older ones...........of course i have no way of knowing when and what they changed. One more thing.........the old pickups on the hamer were 2 singles with the writting HS3 neck/mid (those are Dimarzios right????nice pickups i liked them) and on the bridge position the pickup turned out to be a Jackson J-90C humbucker...............do you know anything about this pickup????

Hi. I'm a long time reader but this is my first time in the water so be nice. Here is the deal. I own a 93 sg and the stock pups need to go. Here is whta I've been thinking. I play usually alt/classic rock but would like something with a little dirt under its fingernails. So here are my ?'s

and my first impression is- F*CKING AWESOME! im really happy with em. they sound a lot thicker than the stock 6L6's IMO, and the low end is much tighter. the mids are also a lot less shrill than with the 6L6's, and much more usable. the 6L6's had more headroom, but the EL34s are still great. i was only able to crank it for half an hour (friends came over to pick me up just as i got the tubes in, i made em wait for half an hour while i played), but it was amazing. ill crank it some more tomorrow for a few hours. this tube installation wasnt completely clear sailing though, you can read about that here from : localhost/acapella.harmony-central.com/...readid=1010828 (my post is at the bottom), but everything ended up fine in the end.

Alright guys...I'm trigger happy with this writing stuff! This one is more of a melodic rock with a metal vibe to it type of track, let me know what you think!

I have a KTG-1 preamp (serial number 0000!) which I bought years ago, probably around 15 years ago. I used to use it all the time and loved it to bits. I haven't used it in years and decided to use it the other day, and the sound was terrible.

Anybody tried this baby out?

People mostly talk about pups, but what abot cables/ any suggestions/

OK 3 really... first mistake was to continue to work on my tele while i was extremely tired.... I'm a shift worker and had 3 hours sleep the night before i went to work and stayed up for hours after i got home working on guitars....

Where do you get yours? Is there anywhere to get one for less than $15 $10 minimum shipping? I tried to order one from GC, but it still hasn't come in 3 months later. SHould I just suck it up and order three Superswitches and some other stuff to make the shipping more reasonable per piece?
