How much is it to retolex and amp?
Specifically, an entire head (Think marshall jcm800 ish size) and a cabinet(4 X12). Standard size of both. I just need a ballpark estimate. I need an estimate for it with installation since I know nothing about tolex. Thanks guys.

After much consideration....
I have discovered the sound I want my Stratocaster to scream. And thats Eric Johnson, beautiful. I want those soaring rythym licks and incredible solo work to just swell off my fretboard, but now I need the pickups.

FS: X2N priced to go!
Black, DiMarzio X2N, good shape, a little black worn from the top, but otherwise excellent. I don't dislike this pickup by any means, but I wanna try out something a little less powerful.

5150 and 5150 II = 6505 and 6505 ?
Hey guys, I've obviously seen all the ads and stuff about the quot;newquot; Peavey 6505 and 6505 amps, and how they're supposedly the same thing as the 5150 and 5150 II (respectively). So are these amps really the same? If not how are they different? And what about the tones coming out of them? Can anyone comment on all of these amps and how they sound?

Dots, Blocks or whatevers?
Further to the thread in the quot;Off Topicquot; room, I thought we'd see exacly what everyone thinks about this. The question is - what do you prefer, inlay-wise, on your electric guitar? And why? If you had a dream axe, what would it have?

WTB Nextel phone.
Anyone have a Nextel they aren't using anymore? It needs to be a flip phone at the very least.

Finally bought another Strat
God help me. What was I thinking? American Deluxe V neck with the S-1 switch, 2 color burst, maple neck, vintage greenish tinted plastic. Locking schaller tuners, schaller strap locks, hard shell case.

Shortening the legs of a 59
I was planning on just cutting the legs with the 90 degree left on the ears and slide them up and solder it on.Is this the simplest way ? I have a 40 watt iron ,will that get hot enough to solder pieces this size?

did early amp companies intend their amps to distort nicely?
i was just curious-a week ago i posted about the fender twin, etc, and jeff seal chimed in and explained the diff between blackface and silverface and how fender believed that distortion was characteristic of crappy amps.

Some valve/tube questions
My local tech called round my house earlier today as he's fixing up two of my amps and he wanted to bring me up to speed on his progress, as well as find out what I wanted him to do next.

my floyd problem *update*
Yeah so if some of you remember my floyd rose decided to go completely out of whack when I changed the strings last week. Anyways I only trust myself enough to make a few adjustments to floyds and get the thing level with the body. I don't really know anything about how to intonate them correctly or anything. I took it to a dude I know and let him do a complete setup... truss rod/intonate/saddle height, the works basically. Man the guitar feels like its brand new again. It plays absolutely perfectly. This also gave me the realization that floyds need a lot of constant maintenance to keep them playing properly(it had been 5 months since my last setup). My adjustments that I make to it are only to fix for the time being, but it really needs a proper adjustment more often than it gets.
