do pickup covers alter tone?
I put a cover on my JB and I believe it sucked the life out of it.. my tone lacks mids and trebles in heavy distortion settings.. jus sounds too mellow now.. I'm an amateur with guitar mods though so maybe I f***ed up the installation... is it my fault or do pickup covers alter the tone?

Welcome Home (Sanitarium) cover,
Read what I wrote about the song, I improvised the 3rd solo and on (the ssecond half of the song). Hope yuo guys njoyed it, I put some echo effect on the solos, it gave it a nice little touch, however it was program (Audacity) generated. All in all I'm pretty happy with the out come, also feel free to comment my tone on this song.
Here it is, enjoy:

Hi there!

Just put new p/ups in a LP R7
Kept the stock 500k pots and quot;Bumblebeequot; caps in place. Took the Burstbucker 1 and 2 out and put a covered SH-5 in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. The Jazz sounds nice and clear and balanced. The SH-5 had a whole lot of presence. The Treble isnt bad it just seems to have a very bright overtone from low to high strings. Not harsh just bright. Tone adjusment on the guitar just seems to muffle and turning the treble down on my amps helps but isnt perf. I dont use presence on any of my amps. What can I do to make the tone things down a bit without lowering the pickup out of sight?

Distortion channel isn't quot;heavyquot; enough or quot;metalquot; enough, what can i do?
hi, just wondering whether i can do something to a distortion channel on a solid state amp to make it heavier or have more gain etc. i was thinking maybe there are types of pedal that can add something to an already distorted channel. i have used distortion pedals through a clean channel before but i find i cannot get the same volume as the distortion channel used on its own.

Grrr.....my Gamp;L Legacy arrived at the dealer....
but the custom pickguard I ordered from Chandler guitars won't arrive tilll tomorrow or Friday. In turn I'll have to mail out the pickguard to Vegas Guitars so they can do the wiring and installation. No big deal...but it'd been nice if the guitar could've been sent straight out. At least the Knucklehead is on its way.

My 1st Clip For You All
My little Sound Click dosen't have many details to it, since I just breezed through it to get my first clip on here. I've never done this before, so I'm curious to what people think.

The boost thread (millionienth or so by me)
Ah but NOW it's different, because I HAVE the amp that needs boosting
It has a lot of gain and a great sound. I want more gain, and to keep this sound. Tight bass, no midscoop, trebly more than bassy.

Amp Hiss Just Got Worse
So this morning I replaced the V30's in my 2x12 with the original G12T-75's,and went back to 8 ohms (I had been running V30's @ 4 ohms). They sound a little more open, just like I was wanting. Tighter on the lows and crunchier on the highs.
