Fender SS. Is this the Fender sound?
Hello to all,
Got a show to play on Saturday and my amp blew. Borrowed an amp from a guy my brother knows and I'm going to have to use it because I haven't got anything else. It's a pretty new Fender Ultimate Chorus, he's only had it about (from new) about a year.

Guitar necks, double expanding truss rod or traditional? Discuss...
This is one thing I don't get. I hear different things about the two all of the time. I'm considering buying a warmoth body and was going to have a neck made to go with it, but I've heard the double expanding truss rod is a cheap way to manufacture and sounds awful. But I've heard that it's more stable than a traditional truss rod. I've also heard it adds more sustain. I know USACG doesn't use them.

Boogie, Rectoverb 50 watt combo
I'll try this post again since my last one had enough typos that made it hard to understand.

Would this work for a pseudo soldano?
I was just thinking, could I use the crate powerblock with a soldano supercharger GTO into its poweramp section, then into a 2x12 and get NEAR soldano tones? This wouldn't cost much more than a 5150 and if it got me anywhere in the ball park (Of soldano tone) I'd be overjoyed.

So I opened up my LP standard...
I opened up my LP standard a while ago, to replace some mush with lovers. This was a while ago, so I can't remember what order it was in, or if there was any punctuation, but inside it had HS58 or 58HS in pencil and glazed over. Is this anything special, or is that the code for a 58 standard? (it's a 1998 LP standard with a rounded neck profile)

Recommend pups for Gibson SG faded
I'm starting to get irritated with the 490 Gibson stockie set (very sterile) and want SD to come to the rescue. My preferences: PAF output, bright neck, something different than in my LP (Jazz/JB), and note that I really like the 59 bridge - so if you think it's a good match, let me know. Any suggestion is welcome - thanks.

loop pedals???
i was looking into loop pedals since i have a song i'm working on now that would sound great with 3 guitars but my band only has 2 lol. it's a quick and simple repeating lead line in one area of the song that i'd like to use a loop pedal for while i play another part and the other guitarist a third part. so i need a loop pedal that can handle high gain use and loop my one lead part while i play rhythm under it without it turning into a muddy wall of noise. the longer the loop time the better obviously. so does anyone know of a good loop pedal that can do this? so far the only one i found that looks to be great with it's record and playback features etc. is the zvex lofi loop junky but i rather not spend $350 on a pedal if i don't have to. also if the part can be pre-recorded by me and saved like the lofi loop junky can do and then just turned on when the part is needed that would be best.

The Darkness tone ??
I was just listening to quot;I Believe In A Thing Called Lovequot; and quot;Love Is Only A Feelingquot;, yeah, I admit it, I got a weak spot for that kind of 80's hard rock or what you wanna call it..anyway, I was wondering if you know what pickups they use, because they got a pretty cool, and pretty heavy tone (at least the rythm tone on quot;I Believe In A Thing Called Lovequot;), and the melody lines in quot;Love Is Only A Feelingquot; sounds beautiful.. I know they use Les Paul's, but do you think the pickups are stock?? Or do you think it's the Marshall amplifiers that gives them that beautiful tone, like the melody lines in quot;Love Is Only A Feelingquot;, and the rythm sound in quot;I Believe In A Thing Called Lovequot;? The solos have an awesome tone too.. Hope you can answer my question.

mounting rings for humbuckers in my jazzmaster
So I bought some seymour duncans to throw in my jazzmaster and I'm wondering what mounting rings will fit these humbuckers. I have a JB and a Jazz Humbucker. The JB will go in the bridge and the Jazz will go in the neck. Should I pick up some of those standard gibson mounting rings or is there a specific size/brand i need to get?

BBE 362 sonic maximizer review
Well I briefly got this hooked up this weekend through my amp and got to play with it. My first impression is that it sounds great through the distortion channel but not clean channel. On the distortion channel, the sound comes through clean and punchy. You can really tell a difference when its engaged and when its not. For some reason it makes the clean channel sound very thin. I'm still not sure why this is as I didn't get alot of time to play with the thing. Maybe a few more tweaks will help this problem. I could really see myself using this in a live situation as it would really help you cut through the mix and hit you with that chest rumbling punch.
