I just scored a Mesa Stereo 50:50 poweramp, REALLY cheap (trust me, you DON´T want to know how cheap, you´ll kill yourself), only thing wrong is :No tubes

Why is this regarded so highly? After I complained incessantly about the thin sound of my SG, a bunch of forum members told me that the guitar would come to life if I played through a cranked amp. Well I finally had that chance this weekend as I cranked my Classic 30 with a new G12H30 and once I brought the POST volume up above 5 or 6 I thought the amp was going to explode. It lost all of it's ability for articulation as it turned to mush. Maybe I was doing something wrong, or maybe I just need to get a Marshall, but I don't see how you can play past halfway and get a decent sounding chord...let alone deal with the ear bleeding!!

Can someone who has the P90 stack in his or her guitar (preferably at the bridge) be kind enough to send a clip of it at high gain to me?

I put the covers back on the Antiquities and got them back into the R8. Then I took the guard off to peak underneath to see the flame and now I'm wondering if I should leave it off.

What does it mean when wood (I've seen this used to describe maple) is quartersawn? Why does it cost more?

I recently placed a 59'er in my bridge position and am think of moving it to the neck and replacing it with the custom shop EVH. Will moving the 59'er that was for my bridge into the neck position make it sound bad? Or do i need to specifically order a 59'er for my neck? Stupid question i'm sure but would really like to know.

I was playing most of my guitars tonight, and a thought crossed my mind.
Most of my guitars needed reslotted nuts, better action and intonation jobs, which either I or a luthier did. Why? I paid good money for them.

i sometimes feel that my neck pup is too muddy and my bridge is too shrill - what would be the probably effect of turning them around -- i.e., so the neck pup points south instead of north and the bridge points north instead of south? might this liven the neck and tone down the bridge?

Hi, just wondering if neck scale should play a big part in my choice for a new guitar? i play from standard tuning to drop c. i played a guitar i really liked in my local shop and it was 24.75 scale but judging by the replies to my thread about what neck scale actually determines, i kind of decided a 25.5 scale would be best for me. i play mostly metal. from megadeth to children of bodom to in flames to metallica to dimmu borgir to kreator.

dean caddy x series. nice shape and playing guitar. been custom painted with rebel flag. the tone controls have been filled and the neck pup cavity has been filled. original dean zebra pick up. trades welcomed on anything.

........I was thinking of giving it one more chance but it is been a long time since i have used it(9 years ago)and i don't remember how it sounded. So my main problem is that i think it sounded quite trebly and i hate pickups with a lot of treble(like the C5). Does it actually have a lot of treble or do i have a weak memory?Outputwise how does it compare to the JB or the emg85?And the bass responce compared to the JB(or the emg85)?

I am wanting to purchase a crybaby wah and was wondering if it is worth the money to get the one with the Fasel inductors. Also if you have a problem with a wah how easily can they be repaired? Thanks

Man...was it good! Maybe the most resonant Strat I've ever played....and one of the best necks if not THE best. Are they all that good? The owner says they are! This one had a Wilkenson tremolo, very lightweight alder body and a gorgeous birdseye neck with jumbo frets. The truss rod was installed by sawing the fingerboard off of the plank the neck was made from, routing the neck, and then gluing the fingerboard back on again so the neck looked like it was one piece with no truss rod. Very cool! What does Tyler do to make his guitars sound so resonant? Anyone know? Does he install graphite rods in the neck to stiffen it or something? Lew
