The way I've currently got my 335 wired, when I'm in the middle position and turn 1 volume down a bit...I lose all volume from that pickup. I want to combine 50's mod and whatever mod will fix this.

I want to get rid of my fender frontman 25r cause its not the tone i want its about 2 months old and in mint condition only 1 small decrative washer is broken off. i bought it for 140 and the condition its in i want atleast 125 so if anyone is intrested give me a pm and ill let you know what im doin not sure yet if ill sell it but depends.

Hows the neck pickup mounted? I wana put a coolrails neck in and a alnico pro 2 bridge in.

I tried one of these babies out on Friday down at a music shop after my music audition at Keene State, in New Hampshire. It was a 2500 or 2550 model I believe. Honestly, I was not impressed and did not think it was worthe the $600 used price tag. I'll say that the crunch channel was great for rhythem playing, but sucked for lead work. It sounded fuzzy and had that type of scratchy noise that you get out of low quality Swuier/Crate solid states have. Maybe I just plugged into a bad head and there are better ones out there. Maybe my JS1000 just isn't really suited for this Marshall. But there was just no control for lead work, it wasn't really tight and wrapped, you know what I mean? Well ha anyone else ever been disapointed in something they thought would be a great product? Maybe I should've tried a distortion pedal..

For Christmas i was going to get my boyfriend some pickups for his guitar. There is only one problem, i don't have a clue what is what. He gave me a few to pick from but i figured i would turn to you all for some help. if you have a suggestion on what i should get then it would be greatly appreciated. Here are some of the ones he said he wouldn't mind having...Pick which one you think would be best....Thanks a lot for the input!

I have the JB/Jazz combo in my guitar, and I am going to replace the capacitor and tone knob. I was wondering if there is a website that will explain in relatively easy to understand terms how to use an equation (or get one) to calculate what frequencies I want to cut and what value capacitor to use for this. I tried searching the internet but didn't find anything useful yet. I am modding an ESP LTD guitar that doesn't have the capacitance value stamped on the tone capacitor. I'm not sure really what I want yet, since I have some minor things to fix with this guitar before I know how bright or not bright this combination is. However, using the tone chart, I know where the resonant peak is for both pickups. Ideas? Thoughts? I'm assuming that I'd want to cut mids, not highs, with this combo and this guitar (maple top, agathis body, rosewood fingerboard). Thanks!

The saddles on my tele are riding a little to low how do i make the neck higher in the pocket?

This Fender telecaster has a light ash body and maple neck/finger board. I have replaced the Duncan Anico Pros with a Duncan Quarter Pound set. These sound much better than the original pickups, and give the tele more body and punch. Comes with a hard shell case.
The guitar is in very good condition and plays great. I can email pics to those interested.

Me and my guitar buddies are always arguing over pickup height, personally i tend not to go for the close as you can get it technique, i tend to back off as i believe you get more characteristics of the pickup and guitar together, rather than just the pickups when they are really close. On my custom strat i also do adjust pole piece height to compensate for the neck radius. What do other go for?

A buddy of mine just gave me a set of Gibson 'buckers. They came out of a newer Les Paul so I assume they are 498T and 490R, but I can't tell which is which. Anyone know how to ID them? They have no markings of any kind and look exactly alike.

I have a 1991 Ibanez 540 sltd. It was my second guitar and I've been playing it for more than 10 years. I've always liked it, but now that I own other guitars I'm realizing that it is the worst sounding guitar that I own. The guitar plays great and sounds good if I play metal all the time using an effects processor, but when I play straight into the amp or with just a couple pedals, it sounds very sterile and has no character. Right now it has a Dimarzio Fred in the neck and a Duncan Custom in the bridge. Both are great pickups. So why is this guitar so lifeless?

Hey guys. I have an Epiphone bridge pickup here that has a nickel cover. I want to remove the nickel cover to use with a '59 that i have on the way. The only thing that appears to be keeping the cover attached to the rest of the pickup is 2 big blobs of solder on the edge of the baseplate. I tried to melt this solder with a normal soldering iron, but it didn't really do much. Would epiphone have used some sort of special solder to attach the cover? A little help would be appreciated. I don't wanna ruin the shiny nickel finish or something.
