I have a 4 way mod switch for my tele which has a JD in the bridge and a tele alnico 2 pro single coil in the neck with cover.
For the JD i need to clip or desolder the ground wire from the base plate and then solder a new wire to the base plate and run it to ground. My question is what do i need to do to the other pickup, I remember hearing something about soldering a ground to the cover but do i also need to do anything else?
thanks,
brandon
Personally, I wouldn't do anything to the JD. I would make the wiring changes to the neck pickup. Here's the drawing I used. YMMV....

Make sure you have Adobe Reader.
thanks butch for the info
but why wouldn't i do anything to the JD?
i guess i just don't understand how series works.
Because I just like that pickup best and would risk hurting it.
The neck pickup has always been the easiest for me to deal with cutting wires.
Is that schematic only one page? I'm thinking of using that switch on my new Tele project too. Is it an option to have Tele pickups wired like this, or would it be a Custom Shop order? They don't have a schematic for it on their site. Maybe I need to post this question in a new thread....
if i don't alter the bridge but i alter the neck, how can both run in series then or is just the neck running in series and the jd in whatever.?
is there something i'm missing?
thanks jumpmarine for the schematics.
Final question
so i don't need to do anything at all to my JD to be able to have both pups in series? if that's the case, then why do some mod their JD?
Because it's really easy to clip the baseplate gound wire without screwing up the pickup.
