Check out what the bid is up to. Unbelievable.

I have not played one, but I've never understood the allure of these amps

Yes every player listed in that auction who used one has great tone...but every single one of them also had the same great tone through other amps like Fender, Marshall, amp; MESA. Maybe the Dumbles to the PLAYER sound or feel so much better, but I just don't think the recorded tone warrants anywhere near the kind of $ they go for.

Have you ever played through one? They're pretty unbelievable. Not $30,000 unbelievable, IMO, but if I had a ridiculous amount of money, I can't swear that I wouldn't buy it.

Loads of other amps that can do the same, and then some.
They sound like a touchsensitive Fenderstyleamp with more gain at hand, and that is what they are.
70-80% hype, but not bad amps, far from it, suited for bluesy playing, but then again, most of the famous users sounds almost the same no matter what they play through

I don't even know what an amp that good is supposed to sound like.

I mean, I've played some of the best handmade, point to point, boutique amps out there (Bruno, Matchless, Fargin, Z, not to mention old classic blackface Fenders), and those are super expensive at $2k to $3k.

How much better can an amp possibly sound?

It is not the sound that is the sole thing in that class, that is just down to whatever preference you have, it is the feel and interaction that matters in that end of the scale.

Well me neither, as said in an earlier post...hype and lots of it, like quite a few other things out there

what did these sell for new?

That thing is going to look great on the floor underneath the authentic 57 LP burst on some lawyer's wall. I can#8217;t speak to the tone, as I#8217;ve never heard it, but for $27K it damn well better be sweeter than the word of God.

ive heard other people play them and it doesn't seem like it cant be found with outher amps about $29k cheaper. this is pushed on by vintage guitar magazines, gear fetishists and the internet. i hope it goes a lot higher than that, so we can get the money out of another fool's hand.

That's typical Dumble pricing, if not a tad low . It WILL get higher.

Some months ago I went to see Robben Ford. There was something magical about the sound, it was by far the best LP blues tone I'd ever heard. I didn't know what he used, looked like a Fender to me. I only read he used Dumbles when I got home and wanted to know the secret.

He often uses a Super reverb and one of those Zen drives
Not say much...I think he sounds better that way...hehe

I only know I never use the Dumble model on my Vox

slade

If I were a millionaire, I still wouldn't pay that much for that amp even if all the players listed in the auction had previously owned it.

A friend of mine confirmed it was a Dumble at the concert, so I'd love to hear him with the setup you mentioned. He must sound killer that way, too.

To be honest, I don't like the OD tone on my Two Rock all that much better than having my Rumble Mod in front of my Rivera but the rig's feel is like the difference between a Squier Strat hangin' on the wall at Guitar Denter and a PRS that just got back from a pro setup. The Two Rock feels like part of the guitar while I feel more like I'm playing through the Rumble Mod/Rivera setup.

Brought his Dumble to Europe??
I have never seen him playing with a Dumble over here, have seen quite a few concerts with hime since the 80's.
And it is fun to see a new Robben Ford craze wave again
Allthough I don't like that low mid drive sound he has, too American tubby

Why haven't we seen any Dumble clones yet?
