I'd like to find a set of pickups for my Tele that will to some degree, maintain the Tele vibe, but will also have a bit more muscle on the higher end. I bought my Tele used about 2 years ago, and it came equipt with SD's Quarter Pounders. Nice tone, but the higher end on either or both pickups combined was very weak. All treble, no meat. I now have a set of Lindy Fralins Blues Specials which are all around much better but the higher end could still use a bit more quot;umphquot; to it. I like the Tele vibe a lot, but I love the high end kick I get out of a humbucker. Any suggestions for a Tele set that can kick like a humbucker but will have a Tele vibe to it? I don't care who make it, and I'll even try a stacked, noiseless desigh if I have to. Thanks.
The Fralin Blues Specials are about as good as it gets, IMO, and right up there with the Duncan Antiqutys in terms of tone quality. I use the Fralins in my '54 Tele and Antiquitys in my Nocaster. But it sounds like you are looking for a pickup with more midrange to quot;musclequot; up your tone a little. That would be the Jerry Donahue, IMO, and that's the pickup I use in my Tele Custom. The other one that I love and use in my Strat is the Tapped Tele Hot lead pickup from the Duncan Custom Shop. That's another alnico 2 pickup with plenty of mids and it measures almost 10K at full output and tapped has about the same output and tone as the Duncan Antiquity I.
Those are my four favorite Tele pickups.

I am a new convert to the world of Tele's. I found that my stocks had plenty of high end, but for me I wanted more output in the bridge, no hum anywhere, and a little vintage vibe in the neck. I put in a vintage tele stack in the neck and a hot tele stack in the bridge. While I liked the stocks OK, I much prefer my new arrangement. Plus it removes the threat of hum. I can't comment on other possibilities because I just haven't tried them. I can say that I really really like my new arrangement. I think the vibe is just fine. The hot stack bridge really does have humbucker sized output.
would a custom bridge antiquity strat pickup fit in the bridge of a tele? I think that'd sound slick....
