the guitar or the amp?
Cheers
Hmmm . . . are you talking about a standard 2 conductor guitar cable? If you don't have both ends grounded, you won't get any sound.
I know what your talking about.
The shielded end goes into where the signal is coming FROM, not where it is going to.
But thats only true when talking about connecting two powered devices. For example, a pre-amp into an amp. They both achieve a common ground by the wall socket. So you can connect the interconnect cable ground only on one end.
This won't work with a guitar. Just try it. Remove the ground connection from one end . . . no sound.
If I could be bothered ungrounding one of my leads... I'd rather use said motivation to do an assignment...
If you´re talking about a quot;ground-liftquot; cable, the shield end goes into the quot;sendquot; and the other into the quot;returnquot;
But considering your rig I´m curious as to why you´d need one....IIRC you´re not using a rack
I don't understand this thread. I'll put either end anywhere.

well i might not go that far, but i don't care which end goes in the amp, and which in the guitar...
I have a Planet Waves cable where one end is described as being quot;shieldedquot;, and the paperwork told me to put the shielded end into the amp.
Yeah, the PW cables do say one is shielded and to put it into the amp or effects. It doesn't make a tone difference either way, though.
