hi ..(i think ) i decided to to buy antiquity seymour duncan pickups for my les paul but i want to ask first if anyone knows if i ll have problem with noise because they are not wax poted.
anyone who have any experiences(not only with the noise) with this pickups?
i m also thinking for my pickups to have a nice clean tone if i want to put a push pull option for nice cleans..
thanks! just read to another forum now:
I am told that the tones (between antiquity and seth lovers)are very close, with the Seth having a little thicker midrange.
i want this thick midrange...maybe its better to take seth lovers...help!

I think Antiquities only have a 2 conductor wire, you will not be able to split them. (I don't know if you can order them 4 conductor.) If you play with a modest amout of gain at a decent volume you will most likely get some noise, how much varies from rig to rig.

I had Seths in a guitar for a while and had no problems with noise or feedback. The Seths are also unpotted.

BTW, don't worry about the cleans, they will be great even in normal operation.

Ditto! USed Seths for quite some time and they are nice and quiet. Never ahda problem with feedback or squeel. Just beautiful, soulful tone. Great pickup played clean and they sing with overdrive.

I love Seth Lover sets, and although they have a more 50's/60's/70's output and tone, they don't get microphonic when you use more modern gain settings. Just great tone and sustain overall.

If you want a little more output out of your bridge pickup, a great set is the Custom Custom/Seth Lover in nicelcovered. It's kinda like a Seth Hot.

If you do have problems with squealing, as I did with my Seths, you can fix them without potting them. I removed the cover and placed some double sided tape between the top of the pickup, and the cover. I made sure they were good and tight and then resoldered. This worked very well. I also replaced the mounting springs with foam rubber, (surgical tubing works as well).

And I agree that Seths kick ass. Very awesome tone.
