I'm interested in hearing opinions from those of you who have experience with more than one brand of modeling amp. What do you think is the best?

Vox Valvetronix and I've played them ALL!

I'm partial to Vox Valvetronix, more quot;realquot; sounding, with that said, the Line 6 flextones are good, and I was incredibly impressed with the HD147 I picked up a few weeks ago just to resell. I doubled my money on it, made almost $400 in 2 days off it. Anyway, once they go down in price I might buy another one because I liked it so much.

Did you try the Hughes amp; Kettner Zentera? Because that amp gets my vote

Another vote for the Valvetronics!

Not saying the Vox Valvetronix is quot; The Bestquot; cause I haven't played through all of the modeling amps out there...This amp does however have quot;feelquot; and this is something missing in other modeling amps I've tryed..

Vox Valvetronix for overall, but the Fender Cyber Twin gets my vote for Fender quot;cleanquot; tones hands down! I use and own both of these great amps.

The Vox does the AC30 and grinding quot;britquot; tones better than the CT in my opinion.I could use either one of these amps and be perfectly happy all night,in fact I have..Using both of these amps together would be very very cool though!

The Vox is really cool. Works just like a real amp with the controls and all. I'd go with the 60 or 120, even though I haven't played through the smaller one's. I bet the Hamp;K sounds great too, but I think they are pretty pricey.

Is the Valvetronix good at non-vox products? I'd think about one, but I REALLY hate the sound of Vox stuff with my guitar (335 with humbuckers). With a strat (or even a casino) I'm sure it gets you into Beatle heaven, but it sounds duller than mud to my ears when played with my axe. So, the way it boasts about modelling many vox products kinda puts me off a bit....

My favorite tones in the VTX 120 are the BF 2x12,The 59 Tweed Bassman, USA High Gain,Modern British High Gain,Boutique(Dumble) clean and higher gain, and the AC30TB settings..The other british Marshall type models are ok,but not over inspiring to me by comparison..The Rectifier setting is cool in that it's ballsy and offers alot of gain...

The Univibe and Treble Boost pedals are excellent,as is the delay, reverb, and other time based effects...It's very hard to beat all that this amp is capable of for it's price..

I've often thought that would be a very cool combination. I've often drooled over all of the Fender models in the cyber-twin, but some of the Brtish amps in the Valvetronix look very appealing too. Maybe a great combo would be a Cyber Twin with a Tonelab would be a more economical option ?

Isn't the whole point of modelling amps that you don't have to use more than one amp? You get everything in one package. Hehehe, sorry to be cheeky. This did make me chuckle though.

The Vox sounds the most accurate to me, but the high end Line 6s sound just as good - not necessarily accurate, but good.

I like the later Line6 modeling. Vast improvements over the previous versions.

To me there's really two issues to consider and thus far I'm still using a 10 year old Roland GP100-

Realisim of model- note that I didn't say clarity or even best overall sound- You really cant tell on these issues in the mix- On this one, my gp100 has been outclassed in bits and number of models, but the bottem line is that the models are simply superb at responding to the reality of the variables of the mix- ie if I push the twin in breaks up very realistical and cleans up wonderfully when I back off- So make sure you try it in context.

Real world-FX combinations- One of the reaons I moved to modeling is that I gave up my old boss pedal board, and with a single art15 have far more fx control than I ever did before- but be careful and made sure you pick combiniations you really need- Good freidn of mine like the dual preamp mode of my roland and ability to combine effects in practically any order- went into the music store and got talked into a pod as better adn less expensive, but he was really disapointed when he found out that it didn't do what he expected it to- bottom line is that lots of modlers are great, but you need to be sure it does what you need-

This pretty much sums it up- I'll look at the Boss GP replacement when I upgrade as I understand it has all teh features and two chips, but note that the models in my little $100 yamaha magic stomp are greater bit rate than my current GP100-but I havent found another modeler that can touch the performance flexibility of my ancient gp100 for me.. on the other hand my bassists is very very happy with his berringer so it comes back to what works fro you-

I've played the POD, the V-Amp and own the Boss GT-6. I have been really happy with the GT-6, several killer blues and high gain patches, and some very nice cleans. It also has a ton of effects and distortion pedal modelers that I really haven't even touched because I can't be bothered to learn all the programming stuff associated with it, and I'm generally not a fan of distortion stompboxes in general.

All the songs I've recorded used the GT-6 straight into my stock soundcard on my Dell. Click on my soundclips down in my sig. I like Heavens Door and Plush the best.

Yes and you're right, but us guitar players always feel that quot;morequot; is better...Heck I own so many amps, might as well put em all out there to use..

Well....There's things I Like better about the CT over the Vox and vice versa and that's really what I was trying to get across....

Aren't we talking modeling amps? Or modeling devices like the POD,ToneLab etc...?

Maybe I missed it, but depending on your budget have you thought about the Roland Cube 60? I've heard great things about it. And it's under 400 bucks.

Like gain? Like Great cleans? Get a VOX!

Cant say I'd recomend it, the Vox ADVT series just outclasses it as far as tone.
