Has anyone tried the Tech 21 Trademark 2x12 cabinet? Any opinions? It's got a nice price tag on it.
CoachC
I haven't tried the 2x12 cabinet but I have a Tech 21 Trademark 60 combo and it is very solidly put together and nicely finished. That gives me confidence that their speaker cabs would be well built too.

Ok, so i have an jap 1983/87 fender strat. The pick up's are ok, i'll probably put them in my Yamahaa. But, I want to replace thepick ups in my strat with Alnico 2's in the Middle and Neck, and a lil 59' on the bridge.
Would this be right? or should i put the 59' in the middle??
Put the '59 in the bridge, it was more or less intended for bridge/neck use, while the alnico 2's should go well in the middle as well as the neck.

The Gibson faded finishes? I've hear normal polish is a no-no?
I use three things, in this order: hot breath, spit, and if necessary, Meguiar's Quick Detailer mist (auto detailer stuff). That's not specific to any particular finish, but I've found those things to be more safe than other alternatives for any finish.
Thanks Rob...I reckon you get that meguiars stuff at an automotive store?

I tried this amp out in a shop today... yeah it really does sound that good.
from : localhost/thought I'd share some truly righteous shreddage and tone with y'all!BTW, he's using a Custom Audio Amplifiers OD100 amp and a modded Fender Strat with a Duncan EVH in the bridge.
Spanish Eyes, the third one, has the loveliest whammy bar work EVER! Any bands with guitar work like this guy? Or is he in a band?

On Monday, milkbone was nice enough to let us know about MF closing out Korg Ampworks for $49. I had been looking for something to practice through late at night, so I jumped on it. I figured that for $50, it would work even if it semi-sucked. Well, it got here this afternoon and let me tell you...
If you are needing something to practice through headphones, you can't beat this thing for $50. Yeah, I wish it had more presets. Yeah, I wish that you could combine the effects in any way that I could think of. Yeah, it's like most modeled stuff in that the punch is missing anywhere below G on the low E string. It has 11 amp models, 11 cabinets, and 9 effects, and it's $50! I've been playing through the thing for about three hours now, and I can't recall the last time that I got so much for $50.
Thanks for pointing it out, milkbone. I owe you one.

Okay this is bugging me. Do old AC/DC songs use something other than A440 tuning? I ask becuase there's songs that I know I have the right chords down, like highway to hell, but they just sound....off. Like not really a half stop down but somewhere inbetween. Its weird. I noticed this with other older songs like let there be rock too. What I am doing wrong and/or anyone know what they're tuning to? My guitar is in tune and intonated. I don't like sound...off!
Apparently when they got into the studio for these albums they'd just tune to whoever sounded the most in tune..other times they'd tune to a piano that wasn't quiet in tune..
So yes.

Custom Custom in their Gibson or Gibson style (i.e. Hamer studio/monaco/standard, Tokai paulas, etc) guitars.
I've heard two in person....both paulas, but not able to fool around with them myself for more than a couple minutes...but looking for some feedback..especially how they compare to 59s for those that have used both (in the bridge position)
Can't compare to the '59 Jeff, but the CC in the bridge of my LP didn't last too long. The pronounced mids of the CC combined with the strong mid range of the LP were a bit over the top for me. It created a massive mids spike that really cut but was almost piercing in the bedroom (I think it'd be great in a band setting, but by myself I wasn't liking it). The bottom was pretty flubby, too. I tend to prefer a much tighter bottom end with my LP bridge pickups, and the CC had a tendancy to get a little muddy.

That is the case. I looked at guitarnuts.com and it says that I am probally discharging a cap but, it goes into talking about the cap between the bridge ground and the signal ground that is used to keep a defective amp for shocking the crap out of you, which I am not even using.
I am wondering if it is static and I need to shield the guitar really well or if I am discharging a tone cap or something.
Any ideas would be wonderful.
