Is it possible to set the Save Option - Always Create Backup within
Excel so that the option is always set (unless I choose to unset it for
a particular worksheet), please?--
Howard Neil
Almost...
Start a new workbook (It's gonna be used as template for all new workbooks)
Make all the changes you want each workbook that's based on this template to
have--page layout, header/footer, etc.
And save this file as Book.xlt in your XLStart folder (include that quot;always
create backupquot; setting!).
Each time you click that New icon on the standard toolbar, excel will use that
template file to create your new workbook.

Ps. Make sure you choose Template in the quot;save as typequot; box in the File|SaveAs
dialog, too.

Thanks Dave, that should do the trick.
I was rather hoping for something that would work on all my current
workbooks (I have only just found out that the setting is not universal
:-( , fortunately before I had need of a backup :-) ) but at least I
can safeguard future workbooks.--
