I bought ZW set yesterday and installing them myself in my Goth lp w/floyd and i have a couple questions.1. My pots in my LP are 500k and the ones that come with the ZW set are 25k should i install the 25k pots or do i have to?

2. Are there any wires i need to completely remove?

3. How would i install a 18v mod because the ZW set only comes with one battery jack (is this sufficent to power both pickups).

1.You must install the 25k pots for the EMG's to work properly.

2. I wouldn't completely remove any wires, incase you wanted to put passives back in and sell it later on or something, but keep in mind that EMG's do not need to be grounded to the strings, like passives do.

3. For the 18v mod, go to radio shack and buy a pack of 3-5 9v battery clips. Take three of them, and solder them black to red, black to red, and black to red, so they form a ring. Attach batteries to two of them, and attach the third empty clip to the clip in the guitar.

What would happened if i didn't install the 25k pots?

The EMG's would work, to an extent, but the pots would act more like an on/off switch than an actual volume or tone knob.

Do you have the instructions? I know this sounds silly, but just follow them. EMG wiring diagrams are pretty straight forward.

emgs come with prewired pots anyway so it shouldn't be too difficult(about two or three solder joints).

When I installed my new EMG a day or two back, I desoldered the wires from the pickup selector, took away the bridge ground wire, and desoldered the wires attatched to the jack. Then I unscrewed the pots and now I have a prewired system, if I want to go back - the only wires needing resoldering are from the pickup selector and the bridge ground. The new stereo jack works with the old pots, it just has one extra wire, which I will insulate with a piece of tape.

i was just reading the directions and they look farely simple but, i have a floyd and there's a wire coming from the floyd system and soldered to the top left pot should i just take out pot and resolder it to the 25k pot and how do i take off my volume and tone knobs can i just pull them off or what(i'm afraid to break it if i pull it off)?

The wire you're talking about is the ground. Do NOT reconnect it. Look on the side of your knobs. If there's no set screw, they do just pull off. You won't break it
