im saving up for the Jackson KE3 its has a lisenced floyd rose on it which i dont like. can i put an original floyd rose tremelo bridge system without cutting anything on the guitar? will it fit?

im not to sure but what you can do is get the bridge locked when you get it and have them tighten it somewhat so you can still bend a string without the brigde moving and having the other strings going out of tune...you can still do dive bombs with your wammy but it'll be more stiff and you cant pull back.. i still gotta get this done to my guitar cause its a total *****

i have a ke3 and its a rad guitar but the weight balance is off and if your standing up playing and let go of the guitar it starts to fall on the neck side cause its heavier than the body, but thats no problem if you just rest your arm on the top which is what people normally do when they play standing up i assume. im getting new pickups put in mine soon, the duncan distortions arent that great but they sound decent, could be better though.

Maybe. It depends on the foot print of the tremolo. Is it a recessed tremolo? Cuz' a replacement tremolo would have to fit in the recess for it to work.

yup its recessed!

It looks like an OFR will fit right in there. Zerberus would know better, tho.

Yes. That would help determine visually if it would fit.

Actually, I found a pic at www.jacksonguitars.com

I have a few on my HM Strat Ultras. The original Floyd does not have angles like the copy on the KE3 shown at the jackson website. It is square.

what do you mean i dont get the angle stuff?

I had a liscensed jackson floyd on my SL-4 and I dropped in an OFR wothout any problem. I would have to see that guitar and I would be able to tell you. Chances are it will probally be the same trem that came off my SL-4.

its the jackson pro KE3 from : localhost/www.jacksonguitars.com/gear/g...rtno=KE3_Kelly.

I will work!! I just compared pictures and it will work fine. One thing to note though, an OFR baseplate is just a tad smaller than the liscensed trems baseplate so it will not fill up the rout as well but, its just minor. The will be a little larger gap on the bass side than the treble side. It will work like butta though!! Here is a Picture,
I agree with theodie. The copies are pretty close. I had KE3 at one point and it was really close if not identical to the other guitars i had with OFR trems. ONly thing to beware is, as stated above, KE series Jacksons, American or Japanese, are top heavy. The location of the strap pin and the size and shape of the body throw the balance of terribly. I had a KE2 for a few years and never played it because of this and ended up selling it just a few months ago. It was a beautiful guitar and played real nice but with the balance issue it was just too much. I had the same problem with my KE3 as well.

A strap button can always be re-located to help with balance.

Absolutely theodie. Just a pain drilling holes in your axe to find the right spot.

thanks guys for all the info.
