Yes, as most of you probably know, I recently acquired a Marshall JCM900 2500 50 watt Hi Gain Master Volume head, but before I bought it, I was gassing for the Laney tony iommi signature amp, and I actually only bought the Marshall because I couldn't afford the Laney, and now I'm gassing for the Laney again.. if I haven't bought the Marshall, I would have been able to afford the Laney now, and it's bumming me out
how much do you want for it?
I haven't made my mind up if I want to sell it, but maybe it can be necessary if I want the Laney. I haven't even used it since I got it. I got it for like 620 dollars.
Yea.. im itching to hear what the iommi head sounds like. I already like my laney quite a bit.
God damn it.. it's really annoying that I didn't just wait and save money up for it, instead of buying something else instead. At least I have learned a lesson now, and I can only hope that I in some way will be able to acquire the laney.

Don't feel bad... you have indeed learned a most valuable lesson. I can speak for about 99.5% of your forum bro's by saying you're not alone in buying gear as a quick fix instead of saving your money and buying exactely what you want.
So... welcome to the club...

So... welcome to the club...
yea.. a big 1
hmm, yeah I know, it's just dissapointing when you realize you still want the same thing as you wanted in the first place. I guess I would have to sell my Marshall to be able to afford the Laney now.
Remember, you haven't even heard the Marshall with your guitar yet. You may change your mind.....again.
Yes, maybe I will, but the problem (as I see it), is that if I spend money on getting a cab, and then find out the Marshall still can't give me what I originally had in mind with the Laney, I won't be able to afford the Laney. My biggest concern is that they sound very different from each other, and another concern of mine is that people say you really gotta crank a Marshall to get it to sound at it's best, and other people that have reviewed the Laney says that it's capable of getting good tones at very low volume.
Non master-volume Marshalls need to be cranked. The ones with Master volumes sound good at lower volumes. Have you played through the Laney with your guitar?
No, I have not played through the Laney either. I think that is why I am in a dilemma. The reason for my Laney GAS is because I've seen some live videos with Tony playing it, and I've heard his newest record, where he (in my opinion) has got a very awesome, ballsy, heavy tone. Of course I am not trying to replicate him though.
Then wait. There's more to his tone than the amp. There's his trusty booster, the pickups in his guitar, the guitar itself. His tone is very unique. I love his tone too but when I play through Laney amps, it doesn't sound right to me. So, since you have the Marshall, get the cab and play through it. After a while if you decide it doesn't suit you, then go play through a Laney and see if that does suit you. You may be surprised, you may not. Everyone's different.
Well, another thing I was thinking about, was saving some money for a while, and then at christmas, I might be able to get the Laney head. Then I have both amps, and then I can always get a cab?? But I don't know, I guess I need some thinking time. My mom would probably think it's weird to have 2 amps though, but she can be persuaded
It would be ebst if I had the cash, though.
plug the guitar in, turn the amp on and start ****ing WAILING LIKE A ****ING NORSE GOD, GOD******!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!stop complaining and start playing.. yu said you didnt even play through it. you might be nicely surprised, so stop *****in and start playing! you wont know until you tried. but if its still not what you want then, i'll shoot you a line about it
Dude, If I just go out and buy a cab then there's not money enough to buy the Laney, that's why i'm in a dilemma. And please speak to me a bit more respectfully.
Dude, you are going to need a cab anyway right??!! So you HAVE to have speakers no matter what so get the cab now. Then you can play the Marshall through it and if you are not satisfied, sell the thing and get the Laney.
you mean you dont have a cab? =/*sigh*what if you get the laney.. can you afford a cab then? just get a cab, try it out .. you can always sell it later.as for talking more 'respectfully' .. no. i talk like that with everyone. no sense to make you an exeption (so dont think i hate you if i call you a crazy ass mother****er. i still like you. one of my best friends is an evil bastard LOL)
Yes, but I do not think the cab I've been looking at would be able to handle a 100 watt amp, in case I still would want it. And if I needed a cab capable of handling bigger wattages, then we have the money problem again.
