Hey everybody. I have recently aquired a Vintage Rails for the neck position. I have heard nothing but good things about this pickup. But I wanted to know how it sounds for fast picked/somewhat high gain stuff, like Yngwie Malmsteen, or John Petrucci sounding type stuff. Its going in a Fender MIM Fat Strat with maple fretboard. Already has a Tone Zone in the bridge, and a stock single in the middle. Thanks in advance.
welcome to the forum!!
the vintage rails is kinda similar to the yjm3/hs3 that malmsteen uses in the fact that its a low output hum cancelling stratty sounding pup. give it a try, it should be a very articulate pup. with a high gain amp you might really like it for your style
Thanks for the info, I can't wait to install it.
Welcome, KS. Vintage Rails should work well for any situation where you need real-deal Strat tone without hum. Also, because it uses a ceramic magnet, you'll get a little more punchiness on the attack, which should work well for high-gain technical styles.
Good luck with the pickup.
