Which bridge humbucker is good for the early greenday, metallica, Black Sabbath, The Vandals, Coheed and Cambria...basically I need a balance of a pickup that can handle punk and metal when I need it too. I know its a vague question but I need help.!

I think a JB could handle all of that stuff well

what they said, green day used a jb, we all no what metallica uses.........and the jb IMO is one of the best, if not they best, duncan bucker for punk and metal......jb=one virsitle son-of-***** pickup.

What is the major and minimum differences between the Duncan Custom and the Duncan JB model humbuckers. On the tone chart they seem to be very close...I think that I'll go with either a Jazz Neck or a 59'. Like I said above I play Punk/Metal(for specifics look at the top). Thanks again.

I've had both the JB and Custom in my guitar. They're fairly similar, although the Custom is punchier with more bass and the ceramic magnet gives it a slightly more aggressive tone. Check out the sound sample page to hear the difference betwen the two.

The custom is a bit more agressive than the JB. The JB has a bit more of a sweet, singing sound to it. I used to hate the JB and love the custom, but after i loaded the JB i have up in another one of my guitars and plugged it in I started questioning my own sanity.

Thats the thing bout the JB, its a grower.

I hate to go against the grain ..... but I'd go with a SH-5 custom or even a 59 for the bridge.

JB is a great pup, but I find it's really guitar specific as to what it sounds good in..I find it to sound best in bolt on neck, alder/basswood guitars (i.e strats/super strats) but don't care for it much in mahogany/korina set neck guitars in the general sense.

Custom sounds good in anything for hard rock...adds low end/low mid punch to bolt ons and adds some quot;cutquot; and tightens up any mud in mahaogany without getting brittle in the high mids like a JB can.

Barring Sabbath I'm not fam with the bands you mention (although I do know of greenday somewhat), but that old Sabbath and Sex pistols crunch is PAF style tone all the way.

59's are great quot;oldquot; metal/hard rock/punk pups. More classic hard rock/metal recordings have been made with PAF's than anything else I'm sure.

on a side note...The BB Pro in my Paul can NAIL Hetfields tone on Kill 'em All.
