Hello, I am new here, but to get straight to the point, I have a gibson les paul standard, with an aluminum tailpiece, and seth lover humbuckers. It doesn't seem to have very much of a mid section, anyone care to tell me why?
Welcome to the forum man!!
What exactly do you mean by quot;mid sectionquot;?
I mean it has highs, and kind of punchy lows, but there seems to be a lack of other stuff in the middle. It will really scream though. I play through my dad's mesa boogie mrk2 c , so I don't think it's the amp.
Maybe the Seth's just don't react well with that guitar. What style of music are you playin?
Blues and some classic rock, and some of the two mixed together. It's good (in my opinion) with a slide, but it’s the goose of the lps I've heard. I'm not very good, however, haven't played electric for very long (just to make that clear).
what's the height of the pickups? the recommended height(for PAFs) is fairly close to the strings- 1/16quot; on the bridge pup amp; 3/32quot; on the neck pup - with the strings fretted at the last fret.
Yeah, raise the pickups so they're closer to the strings, turn up the mids on your amp, and use 10's or 11's. Seths have nice mids, but if you want a beefier sounding bridge pickup, trade the Seth B away for a nickel CC.
I will try moving them closer, they aren't near 3/32, much less 1/16 of an inch away. Thanks for the help, I'm sure I will enjoy this forum.
Just a shot in the dark -- try turning the bass and treble down on the amp and then the volume up to compensate. See how that works for you.
