I sold my Digitech Digidelay to pay a bill i had the local musics store, anyway 1½ month after i sold it i went back and see if they still had it and maybe i could pick it up again, they had sold it, i regret that i sold it!
So to replace my old one, which delay stompbox on the market do you like the most?
I ordered a Boss DD-6. When it arrives, I'll give a review....
My personal favorite is the BOSS DD-3, I've owned a couple of 'em, and they have always performed the way I like 'em to.
Rock On
I was really diggin my dd-3 when I had it, but traded it for a boss dr-3 drum machine. Now I use a Rocktron Short Timer and couldn't be happier. It has two settings
short (200ms-400ms) and shorter (0-200ms) and does slapback and atmospheric delay VERY well and it's a fair bit warmer sounding than my DD-3, sounds a bit more analog. Definitely fits what I do better. It doesn't have the 800ms delay that the DD-3 has, but I never dialed in a sound past 400ms anyway
Hughes amp; Kettner's Replex is a monster pedal.
Ibanez de7's are awesome and pretty cheap
I love my DD-2. Perfect for my needs.
Line 6 makes that multi-delay box. Pretty pricey, but it'll give you access to every delay under the sun and a little loop recorder.
I ended up selling mine as I usually only used one or two models on it. I'm more a reverb than a delay guy.
I'll second the Rocktron Short Timer - dirt cheap new, and I got mine for $25 barely used off eBay. The guy ended up living in my town and dropped it off personally.
It's got a vintage analog kinda sound that's good for rootsy rock amp; blues, and it will do the early U2/Police stuff, since they were using Echoplex' and/or Memory Mans (Memory Men?). It only goes out to 400msec, but I've never figured out what to do with longer delay times. Also, it has no presets which doesn't matter to me since I only play at home.
And it's big GREEN, so it reminds me fondly of my 1st echo, a late-70's MXR Analog Delay.
I looked at the Rocktron short timer and i don't understand, how i'm i suppose to count how many ms it's on? On my old Digitech it had 7 modes and you choosed ex. 25 - 1sec, so you could count how to set the knobs, how do i do that with the rocktron?
Line 6 Dl4, get it you wont regret it.
