Hello All,
Currently my pedal setup consists of an MXR Super Comp, Toadworks Death Rattle, Homebrew Power Screamer, Boss CE-2, Bespeco Volume Pedal (VM-12 I think is the model). I'm also using a Zoom 505 multi Effects for a tuner. I've also just bought an Electro-Harmonix (Octiplexer? basically an octave pedal. Can't remember what it's called. I think it's an Octiplexer. The grey one with three knobs on anyway).
I'm powering everything from a Meridain AC/DC Power supply.
My amp has two effects loops, one series and one parrellel. The parrellel loop has a wet/dry mix knob.
How should I setup my effects? Whatever I do atleast one pedal seems to suffer. I've taken the Zoom out of my signal all together because it generates too much noise. I just unplug and go into the Zoom when I need a tune up.
I also intend to but an MXR 10 Band EQ for pre distortion shaping and another EQ for post distortion shaping, phaser (probably an Electro-Harmonix Small Stone I think). Oh yeah, and a delay, (just don't know which one yet).
Any tips on setting all this up would be greatly appreciated as I think I've got in a little over my head.
I've picked up a few things like modulation should be at the end of the chain. EQ and compression at the start but I pretty clueless as to the rest.
At the moment I thinking Guitar--gt;--Electro-Harmonix Octiplexer--gt;--MXR
Super Comp--gt;--MXR EQ--gt;--Homebrew Power Screamer--gt;--Toadworks
Death Rattle--gt;--Another EQ BOX--gt;--AmpI think that's enough for the front of the amp. Then run everything else through the effects loops.Amp Series FX Loop Send--gt;--Boss CE-2--gt;--Electro-Harmonix Small Stone--
gt;--Bespeco Volume Pedal--gt;--Delay--gt;--Amp Series FX Loop ReturnThen I can plug my tuner in form the Parrellel FX Loop Send without returning it to the amp so the tuner doesn't hum through everything. I'd also turn the wet/dry mix to completely dry just to be sure.
Any thoughts please would be greatly appreciated, even if just to confirm my suggestions, I need the reassurance. The most observant amongst you will know that there are too many pedals here to run from on Meridian AC/DC Power Supply. I thought I'd either get another or get those 'one plug into five plugs' Boss things, Daisy Chains I think they're called.
Right, that's everything. Sorry if I'm asking a lot, sure feel like I wrote a lot. But it's a reflection of how much help I need.
Thanks again
This took about ten minutes to write. Somebody please atleast give me a half-assed answer. lol
That looks like a nightmare, man! I would have no idea where to start. I know there are issues with which pedal to put in front of the other, but I've only ever used one or two in line, so....bump.
I believe your assumptions are correct except I would place the compressor before the octave. my beligerant and ignorant .02 cents stewie
I'd put the volume pedal first in line, with the compressor next. The other effects are gain dependent, with the exception of the octave divider, and that I think I'd put last in the chain. The other effects, you can put wherever you'd like. I don't think I'd use more than one EQ and that I'd put prior to the distortions.
No, I think you got it right the first time. Octave first for proper tracking. Compression for sustain. Pre / post eq around your distortion. Volume pedal in the effects loop second to last for control between your preamp and power amp. Delay in the loop last for graceful decay when volume is cut.
Your tuner should also be up front before any frequency modification, but if it is too noisy I would connect it with a loop / bypass box.

I think you're right. Maybe I was getting a little carried away
I think I'll stick to one EQ (pre-dist.) and rely on my amp for the post stuff. Thanks every one
