This decision might get taken out of my hands if I don't make enough on my guitar sale but, here's what I'm considering. I have 3 SSL-1's in my Legacy and want more grunt for the bridge sound. Here are my choices.
1. A series mod for bridge/middle on the existing pickups.
2. A Twangbanger replacement for the bridge.
3. A full set of Fralin Vintage Hots.
4. Any other ideas?

I play classic rock/blues mostly, but occasionally stray into funky clean sounds. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

my suggestion is to get either a custom flat for strat or a twangbanger, the custom is a little brighter and spankier than the twangbanger with has a thicker mid range. both sound great

Is the custom more aligned to a traditional Strat sound with extra gain? I'm probably leaning towards the Twangbanger for the stronger mids. But I don't want to completely overpower the Strat's bridge sound.

bump

The Twangbanger has more mids and output than a normal Strat bridge pickup and a smidgeon of Tele flavor, so it sounds thicker than a vintage Strat bridge pickup, but it still sounds like a Strat pickup to me. I think it works well with the SSL-1s. If you want to do Buddy Holly, stick with the set of SSL-1s, but if you want to do blues go with the TB bridge.

The Twangbanger it is then!! Cheers guys.
