What is your opinion about Usa select Jacksons? Those monsters seem pretty good to me but I need some more opinions. I'm about to order a Usa Warror model. Is it as brutal as the company claims?

I'm currently scouring eBay for a Soloist from the select series. Any USA Jackson kicks ****ing ass.

Let's wait for Guitarist, Zerb, and JammerMatt to come and agree with me, though.

Jackson USA's are some of the best made guitars on the planet.

I have a couple Jacksons, and have played a whole bunch. For that heavy metal thing, they are top notch. The USA select are damn good, so feel confident in that.

Only two things I'd say as well though . . . Firstly, If you can get an older USA Jackson used somewhere, they are (if you can believe it) even better than today's USA select. I'm talking a decade old, nicely before Fender bought them. Also, have you checked out ESP guitars? A lil different, I'm not quite as big a fan of them as Jackson, but unless ur in a big rush, definitely something to look into.

I have two. One is a made-in-Japan Professional Series Dinky, (DXII or something like that), and one is a USA Soloist. I think they both sound great. The Dinky has this super slim neck, and is super light. It's made of Basswood, but just about any pup I throw in there sounds good. I keep it at work and pick it up when I get the chance. It's my quot;travellerquot; since it's got a few bruises. The USA never leaves home.

What can you say about the USA's that hasn't been said? Mine's a neck-thru soloist with ebony board. Red Ghost Flames Finish, Original Floyd, and came with duncans. I picked it up on sale for 1100. I got my Les Paul for 1600, and I'll use that as a comparison since they're comparably priced.

1. The LP had to immediately go to a technician for fret levelling and setup - kaching 80 bucks. The Soloist came home from the store with some of the most insanely low action you could think of. The jumbo frets were smooth as butter.

2. The LP had a good finish for a Classic. It didn't have that annoying smudge right above the fretboard at the joint like you see so often. I'm happy with that finish. But, my God, the finish on the Soloist was incredible. Like glass. Flawless, and I do mean flawless. You can't find a joint or seam, and the thing was just super smooth. Very solid feeling also.

3. Of course sound's where it's at. I'm an 80's metal guy, and nothing has done it for me like that Jackson (or the Dinky for that matter). It came with a JB. I didn't care for it at first, and went through the usual suspects... Custom, DD. Then I switched out the chip on my amp, and bling... it all fell into place for that guitar loaded with a JB. But, the Custom and DD sound killer in those as well. I also raised the action a little which suited me better. The neck pups sound surprisingly warm also when combined with the middle pup. With tone and volume rolled off, it sounds pretty darned good, and even my guitar teacher commented on its warmth (for a Jackson).

Drawbacks? Well, if I had it to do over again, I would get a Hum Hum. I never use the middle pup, and I do so like the neck Jazz. I would probably get a USA bolt-on given another chance. I know that sounds wierd, but there you go. If the neck or headstock ever gets broken, it's basically curtains for that axe. Pinch harmonics come roll out of my LP better than the Jackson, which has always intrigued me.

I'm a bit ashamed to say that I'm not really worthy of the USA. There are so many better players who should be using this guitar's potential, but I ran into a little money a few years back, and got my quot;dream 80's guitar.quot; Someday, I'll do it proud though.

As for ESP's etc. I can't say much... never played one, but others like Twilight swear by theirs, so the upper end models must be fantastic.

If that's your mentality about it, then you ARE worthy. Whether if you use it to smoke the frets off the damn fretboard or simply as an inspiration.

You've heard the mob! Buy one - there just ain't nothing better. And that comment about them being only for Heavy Metal or something like that is complete bull****. The only thing I can think of that would immediately put it in that category would be the shape of the headstock and some of the radical bodies they put out. I don't think there's a genre that the any of them couldn't touch.

The Warriors I´ve played (long ago) were all the early Professionals, but they were totally kickass.

I assume that the Warrior still kicks ass. And a Jackson USA is one of those quot;fire and Forgetquot; items: It may take a while to get it if it´s not in stock. But the quality will be inmpeccable, and the chances are very good that you will immediately consider selling your other guitars to get more USA Jacksons

I spent a lot of time with USA Jacksons and those wonderful 80s Charvels.

I recorded a lot of material using a black SL1 soloist with a JB. For me, the H-S-S configuration just didn't work out. I had to lower the middle pickup so much it was next to useless. BUT, it was a great guitar- built like a damn tank with great sustain.

Now, I play my ESP more but have absolutely nothing but good things to say about Jackson. I just wish I could see one once in a while. Every GC I go into has nothing but $500-700 foreign made Jacksons. I am always on the look out for one-of-a-kind Jackson Custom Shop guitars to add to my collection.

Well i only know my Japan made C5A Bass.. it's the one in my Avatar and it was my first Instrument... and wow... it was really worth the (kinda low due to sale) price imo.. unfortunately it's not produced anymore since Fender bought Jackson or something...

Usa Jacksons are better than Usa time capsules of Dean?

Not necessarily better, but definitely different.

I´ve never played a Dean USA before, therefore can´t comment on their quality. I´ve heard it´s on par for the price

What is the difference between SL1,SL2, and SL3? I'm checking ebay and I don't want to overpay for one.

If you want 80s Metal/Shred get a Jackson...

Personally, I have an 88 Custom-Shop Jackson that I haven't played in years, sounds too sterile amp; lifeless accept under hi-gain and has no real identity under distortion, forget about clean tones - I prefer my Hamer's amp; PRS's for BIG fat tone!
