What are his strats usually running through? Ol' Joe's got some great sound. Fenders?

Cut from from : localhost/your all-time favorite guitar setup?

A vintage Les Paul. I'm partial to a '59 or a '60; it depends. '58s are fun. I'd run that into a wah-wah pedal and then into an original tube-model Echoplex. That would go into a pair of Fender Super Reverbs with four 10s, except only one top. I would put them on metal folding chairs that are about knee-high. Standing about eight to ten feet in front of those, you can actually move around and find different areas to sustain any note that you want. It's also incredible because eight 10s pull the impedance of the amp down to like 4 ohms, and that's where you really get your sweet sound--when the amp is screaming before it blows up.

My other favorite thing is a pair of Vox AC-30s. That is tremendous for Fender guitars. The Super Reverbs are tremendous for humbucking configurations, like on the Les Paul. A Strat or a Tele through two Vox AC-30s is just the best.quot;

i guess i'll need to get some metal folding chairs now!

That's a great contribution, Chaos! Thanks for that one.

I'll bump this up so that others can read about the Fender amp in the folding metal chair configuration.

Ah, I love the chime of a VOX.

Is there anyone that hates a VOX. I have heard of very few.

It may be just me, but I swear most of the tone I hear out of the mainstream Joe Walsh stuff is mostly Telecaster. From the James Gang to solo stuff, to the Eagles- I mostly hear Telecaster.

I'm pretty sure that he uses a Crate V Series amp too. But maybe thats because they paid him to?

I've seen Joe Walsh at the local Sherman Oaks, Ca Guitar Center. The guy has a tremendous guitar collection, so he brings in arm loads of average guitars he's aquired, and walks out with 2 or 3 killer Custom Shop Strats or Historics. He's a major gear junkie. He's one of those guys at the Joe Perry level of guitar and amp collecting.

Are you talkin' about 'selling off your prized tobaccoburst 59 LP for smack money' Joe Perry level?

it's obvious that the secret ingredient is the metal folding chairs!

it's funny, but I agree with his amp choices

also, if you check Dr Z's site, their were a couple models that were made at Joe's request ... the Super Z was one

I mean, c'mon, he's gettin' royalties from Eagles CDs fer God's sake

If you're referring to:

To quote Kenny Rogers or whoever wrote it:

Joe Walsh is the man. Hell of a slide player. I met his daughter once, too, she's very sweet and a serious cutie.

I always thought he used Strats and teles in the studio but Pauls live because of the humbuckers and noise.

in quot;the Long Runquot; video hes using a Paul with a slide...god i love that song

... and I thought metal folding chairs were only used by professional wrestlers!

Joe Walsh = my personal Jesus. I love that guy's playing - so tasteful yet so raunchy. I usually can't stand The Eagles, but I'll listen to them if it's one of the tracks he's on.

Most pics of him I've seen with The Eagles (when he had that porno moustache) he played a sunburst Les Paul. I've also seen him with a 50's Tele, a Gretsch Silver Jet (which are underappreciated guitars IMO), a Gretsch hollow-body or two, and a Strat.

I caught the end of the Farewell II concert on TV yesterday.

He played a Strat, Tele, LP, and he was playing slide on a Rick.

I think that's actually the Glenn Frey model Rickenbacker.

On Joe's site there was some photos of his amps he uses to play solo shows these days.. A Fender Vibro king and a Marshall Combo was among the 4 or so amps he had.. His Pedal Board is interesting too....
