I've read that this guy Michael Angelo Batio is the fastest guitar player in the world and can actually play all 4 necks of a 4 necked guitar at the same time.

May I ask how the heck that is accomplished? Does he play with his feet or maybe some quot;otherquot; appendage in addition to his hands?

Just sounds like a totally ridiculous exercise to me! I think somebody has a picture of this monstrosity in their avatar.

well he doesn't really play all four simoultaniously, but he plays two of them at the same time by hammering the notes. He switches insanely fast between the necks.

theres a picture at the bottom of this page of it:

My band opened for him at a festival last year. It was neat to watch, it was entertaining, he held my attention... for about 15 minutes. I'm not too big on quot;virtuosoquot; type stuff though...

I'm not a fan of his music, but I've seen him at some clinics, and caught a live show of his, years ago. The guy is a hammer-on machine! I've never seen a player who could play left handed, right handed, upside down, and even backwards with his hands crossed.

What he's able to do is something you've got to witness with your own eyes.
Man, that guy's gotta be about 50 now!

I really can't take that guy seriously at all. He's way too quot;noveltyquot; and ridiculous.

And that mullet thing... hahahahahaha.

He's a F***ing shred machine!

But...It seems that he's a all about flash, (i mean, playing upside down with your arms crossed...Who's gonna be able to tell that you're doing that on a CD?) He focuses a lot on the visual aspect of playing.

Not that thats a bad thing, but it just can't keep my attention for too long. Its like quot;oooohhh damn!!!!! thats cool!!!!!!quot;, then its like quot;lets watch somthing elsequot;

The guy's got insane chops though.

Sure he's flashy but his quot;musicquot; sounds like crap. I'd rather listen to a bee hive.

Two words, musical masterbation . I mean seriously, when would you ever want to use that. I think chicks stopped diggin' that stuff back in '89.

he is cool to watch, for about 3 minutes. then its like wow, this music sucks and he is in desperate need of a barber...

The point of a 4 neck guitar in that style is IMO purely showing off how good you are... but you better be somewhere close to Batio´s caliber before you try to pull it off....

He´s unbelievably fast, IIRC the Japs call him quot;Hads without Shadowsquot; or something like that... and it´s fun to watch even though I personally am not a fan of quot;Übergeschreddequot; in general.... But I highly recommend turning the sound off and putting the new Nevermore on in the Background

It sounds neat and is fancy but looks kinda retarded imo, even more retarded than vai's 3-neck guitar.

Musically he's not my cup of tea, but I gotta respect a guy with his work ethic. He'll practice a line 1,000's of times to get it tight.

or the new opeth
anyway.. its cool to watch and his instructional dvds from what i've heard are good too, but apart of a couple of songs its really just speed and nothing else

Who's the dude in England that has the 2 LP Jr bodies hinged together and he clangs them together?
