im looking into putting a pair of phat cats into my 61 sg ri, because i find my self disliking the the humbucker tone and always going strait for my tele, will the phat cats get me a more twangytone, and brighter cleans? and does anybody have sound clips of the pups?
the Phat Cat bridge i recently got is my favorite pickup i've ever played......its probably gonna sound half way between those humbuckers you already have, and your tele....its got thicker mids than a single coil, but more clarity than humbuckers....i can get a very chimey full clean tone, and it sounds very even and smooth under overdrive.......its exactly the pickup i was looking for, and does have a certain twangyness to it
Blake, I was sort of in the same boat...my LP wasn't sounding good to me anymore compared to my single-coil guitars. I traded it for an LP Junior and I'm in heaven with that guitar...the P90 has what the humbuckers did not. Obviously, it's a matter of taste, but it sounds like a p90 might be what you are looking for.
Good luck!
