I have an old strat and i want to put in a lil screamin demon, what position should i put it and what other two pickups should i use, the ones in it now are old and worn out, and i want that good rock sound without paying for a les paul or prs. any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

how old is this strat? not vintage i hope, since by changing pups youll hurt the value.
the lil demon is a cool pup. what tones are you trying to get? what amp do you use?

I would suggest a new pickguard with new electronics even if it is not vintage. You can save the value of the guitar that way.

sorta, even a broken solder joint will hurt the value of a very collectable gtr but the best way to do it is if you leave the whole guard wired and just break the solder joints at the jack and replace the guard like you said.
