Hey have any of u guys used both of these the Marshall Bluesbreaker (BB2) amp; The Boss Blues Driver (BD2)? I wanna go in for one of the two? I liked the tone of the Boss Blues driver from the clips in the website.
I had a Bluesbreaker and it was built like a tank. It had some excellent tones that you can easily pull out of it. Marvelous pedal. Never tried the BD2.
IMHO, the Marshall Bluesbreaker II is a much better sounding pedal than the Boss Bluesdriver.
Thanks guys. I had seen The Blues Breaker when it had first come out that was abt ahh around 96 I think, and was interested but did not have the cash then.
Anyone else have anything more?
I loved the tone of the original Bluesbreaker pedal...nice dynamic overdrive. My only gripe was it didnt have alot of output... you couldnt use it as like a clean boost with the level up and the gain down... both had to be up to probably 3 o'clock to get the same volume as your guitar with the pedal off... I dont have much expierence with the BD2 I just demo'd one in a store a few years ago... I thought the highs were kinda thin and shrill... but it didnt have the low end drop off that my tube screamer did... had way more drive and gain than the Bluesbreaker so more flexible in that sense... These were just my observations in the store... I could be completely off cause its hard to get a real good notion from spending 20 minutes with it using a guitar and amp that arent mine... so take it for what its worth...
the bluesbreaker 2 pedal has 2 modes, clean boost and blues mode, so its a blues od pedal and a clean boost pedal in one and its a very good sounding pedal definutly superior to the boss unit to my ears.
Once again Thanks guys . I too was leaning towards the Marshall. i sure will chek them both out before making my final decision.
Just out of interest, what makes you concentrate on those 2 pedals? Ive not tried either of them but I do have a Boss SD-2 (now discontinued), one of their yellow overdrive ones. It can sound pretty interesting...
I'm glad I checked this out - I am about to purchase a Marshall Bluesbreaker and it sounds as if I can rest easy with that decision. Thanks

...another good alternative to the BD2 or the Bluesbreaker would be a Tubescreamer Turbo. I've tried this pedal and it has amazing tone, and it is very flexible. Its very transparent and can be used for anything from a boost, to a mild overdrive, to a slightly heavy (think classic) crunch. you can also use this pedal in front of some gain for some really killer crunch...

Hmm overdrive, yes I like over drive not too much distortion. An over drive pedal though nice, hmm is not exactly what I am looking for right now.I might go in for one later.
Had the BD-2 and returned it. After reading many favorable reviews I went with the Digitech Bad Monkey, and boy am I glad I did. These pedals are becoming very popular for good reason, it sound fantastic, very flexable, built like a tank, and won't break the bank. You can use it for lead boost all the way to some very good classic rock tones ala Billy Gibbons. Definately check this unit out, you will be glad you did.

1, I love my Bad Monkey. Can't really say the same for my Blues Driver
(BD-2).
The Bad Monkey kicks butt. Compares favorably with my Keeley TS-9 and Reverend Drivetrain II and better in some aspects. My BD is on the block.

Same story with the BD2!
I don't think the differences are big.
It is best to try both in a shop, find out yerself.
Hmm I wld be trying them out latter this month. thanks again.
i have a keeley modded blues driver and its my favorite pedal for soloing, i love the tone alone with humbuckers and run simotaniously with my tube screamer for singles.
1 for a Keeley-modded blues driver, it's an awesome pedal!
If #304; were you I would get a bluesbreaker. It has more powerful sound. Another choice is DOD YJM 308 overdrive pedal....
