Hi,
I need/want a tuner for my floorboardv It mustn't be a regular sized effect - I'd actually apreciate a small but good readable unit. It would be placed as the very first effect, so I definitely have a Volumepedal after it so it doesn't even have to have a silence function. I'd even thought about one I could integrate into my guitar but I think those will be too expensive.
Boss has one but are the other ones out there? I heared of the strobotuner but IIRC that one's rather expensive and I don't want to spend too much money...
I have the BOSS TU-2 that you're talking about. It's a great device. Many will back me up, I'm sure.
for durabilty and design, i dont think the TU-2 can really be surpassed for the cash
korg make a very good floormount, as well i think..

1 Great tuner
say woud this boss tuner also work well for acoustics amplified as well? BUt ive also heard many good things about it as well man.
You can not beat the petersen Strobostomp. Period. No other tuner can match it´s accuracy, including expensive rack tuners (´cept of course a fullsize Petersen). Bulletproof design, ultimate flexibility, and accurate to 1/10th of a cent. THe Active DI is also a cool feature....You will never buy another tuner *
Downside: It´s probably also THE most expensive tuner pedal that will ever go into production
* Unless you´re a total dumbass like me and you sell your Petersen instead of something else when strapped for cash....OOOUCH...

Thats my pedal tuner of choice. Couldn't be happier with it.
one more vote for the TU-2
Have you considered the Rocktron X-Tune? Never heard anyone say a bad thing about it and it's as study as anything else the others have suggested. It's also quite a bit cheaper if you're prepared to look around. I think you can them from an Ebay store for around $50/$60.
I use the Korg DT-10 on my board and I love it. Some say it tracks a little faster than the TU-2, but I've never used a TU-2 at great length.

Listen to Zerb, the man knows
Price wise, the TU-2 is a decent pedal. However, it's shortcomings are shown through time with it. Face it or not, the accuracy is only within 3 cents and that means even if you tune all the strings dead in the middle, odds are you won't get everything perfectly in tune. I can't say how many times I thought I should be in tune and one or two strings were definitely off from the rest. You get what you pay for
The Strobostomp is an absolutely killer unit. And to me, $100 more for the most accurate tuner pedal around with Feiten compensation, capo compensation, various temperaments, etc. makes it more than worth it. People complain about the price, but there's no going back after you experience what it's like to strum an open chord and have everything sound in perfect harmony.
Every player I've seen worth their strings uses the Boss TU-2. When I started gigging out regularly I was given one as a gift by a veteran player I respect greatly.
For live use it's as accurate as anyone who doesn't have the pitch recognition of a Schnauzer will need.
I agree that for live use a Tuner like the Korg DTR series, Fender RT-100 (which I have myself, nice unit), TU2 or similar is accurate enough... But I also assume that he won´t want it only for live, that my be my mistake... For me for anything other than live /-1 cent is just accurate enough, especially when doing setups (this is actually why I miss my Peterson the most, and I´ll probably buy at least a VS-II soon just for that....)
Yup. The Boss TU-2 gets my vote as well.
Another TU-2 vote here. I've been using one for over 3 years. Solid, dependable, easy to use/read while gigging. There may be better tuners out there for bench work and intonation setting, but for on-stage the TU-2 has everything you need.
voting for the TU-2 again here...
I'm sure that as great as the Peterson Strobo Stomp is.....people have been using the TU-2 for YEARS and I've opened for several national acts, and every last one of them every electric guitarist/acoustic guitarist/bassist/electric banjo'ist/plugged in violinist/plugged in mandolinist, etc etc etc has used the Boss TU-2. You can't beat that kind of endorsement
thanks for all the input. I think I'll have a look at the boss, the rocktron and a korg unit. The boss one seems to be slightly overpriced (almost double compared to the others), but I'll give them all a shot. The peterson is currently out of my price range but definitely an interesting concept - I'll keep in my mind for future upgrades...
I recently got a Fender PT-100. Nice little pedal tuner for only about $49.
