I'm just curious as to what the dimensions of a dogear p-90 pickup are compared to a humbucker with a mounting ring. I'm considering getting the cheap epi lp junior special (for $89) from musicians friend to have a guitar that i can try doing a few mods on without being scared of ruining a guitar.

I was thinking, if i get one, that amongst other things, i would replace the humbucker with a dogear pickup so that it more closely resembles the gibson version. Obviously this would require routing which i would be interested to try (with the help of someone that knows what they're doing of course!).

So, does anyone know the specs for a dogear pickup?

Why not just mount it on the face of the guitar, that 's what dog ears are good for? The humbucker route would be wider, P-90s are longer.
