OMFG ROFLMFAO!!!
Yep, some of them had gold backs on them, some light backs, some dark backs.
How did it play? I love mine.
played great!! i was a little thrown off by all the gold, but the guitar was light as hell and really sounded great acousticly. i might go check it out again and plug it in. its got a big chunky neck but feels really comfortable

Sounds like a winner Jeremy. If you find a good Gibson that is well assembled and rings out acoustically unplugged (check to make sure it's balanced), grab it! A well built Gibson is extremely hard to beat
is the hardware gold?
there is a 1994 40th anniversary that quot;EVERYTHINGquot; is gold. pickguard and all. there is one of the centienials at under the gibson section. It doesn't have the goldback, but everything else is.
I haven't seen one of those, but I had a Classic 60 that was like that. Instead of being a quot;Gold Topquot;, they refer to it as a LP in Bullion Gold.
They've made all gold ones from at least the early 70's, probably 50's as well. The few all gold ones I've played haven't been the best guitars- but they were all gold!
I don't remember the 40th anniversary models being gold, I remember those being black. Or I'm thinking of the 40th anniversary Customs

As long as you’re happy with it looking like this when you’re 70...
I saw an all gold bodied 335 online somewhere a year or so ago.
Looked pretty sharp.
IIRC the color is referred to as quot;Boullion Goldquot; as opposed to quot;Gold Topquot;... if that´s the only quot;catchquot;, I´d say legit
they did make some all gold les pauls in the 50's, i didnt know they ri'd them. the hardware is nickle. the gold wearing off isnt a big concern, cosmetics dont matter when your eyes are closed

go into that link above. the pics are hard quot;for mequot; to link to. go to guitars, then gibson, and it is there. It is a Centennial rather than an anniversary.

I've seen several made in 2001-2005 solid gold ones new in stores over the last few years.

I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of the 40th anniv. Custom. When those were new, a local store had one that would not sell. It was a really nice guitar and it sounded and played great- I just couldn't justify it for myself. At the time I was playing a 20th anniv. Custom
Sounds sweet!
Two words, jermey - BUY HER!!
