what are your thoughts on the Ibanez JS100?
I have a chance to buy one that is 3 years old from a friend. I haven't seen it or played it yet.
Is it worth $300?
I dont think this model comes with Dimarzio Fred and what ever pup Satch uses but thats okay with me becuase I would just replace them anyway.
It's really nothing special at all. Compare it to your basic Ibanez RG or S series. Same thing just different body. Just a marketing move by Ibanez. Everything about the guitar is different from the real satch models. The 100 is made in korea while the 1000,1200,2000 are japanese. The neck, body, electronics, even the floyd rose is different. They bear a similarility visually but that's about it.
while i agree with X...nothing overly special...i do find them to be a bit better than a typical MIK RG...it may just be the body and neck shape i dunno, only tried one of them when i had an itch for a white one but i just can't play sig guitars with someones name on them like his has on the last fret...it's just odd lol. but i don't think it's a bad guitar for $300...give it a try first for sure though.

yeah for $300 it's not bad. Actually for that, some new pickups and maybe an OFR and it could be pretty badass. I remember them not feeling bad at all. My main argument is that they are not the same guitar as the high end ones.
Thanks guys. I'll have to give it a try and see how it plays. Replacing the pps wouldn't be a problem becuase I have so many extras laying around.
Does the JS100 have a coil tap or split??

I agree for $300 it isn't bad, but it'd need upgrades like the floyd and pups mentioned to make it a more serious axe, but thats when the cost starts running up... I wasn't too impressed with the tone of this model tbh.
save your 300, get a 50 or a benji on top of that and snag an old charvel or something REALLY cool off of ebay. it'll treat you better. there's no worse feeling than the feeling of a cheap guitar.. I know
I'd prefer a new axe to a second hand one myself. Amps I could take 2nd hand, but I really like having a guitar that no-one has had before
I was very impressed with the neck on the JS1000, but the JS100 left me cold.
The JS guitars are kind of a one-trick pony. They have a very distint tone, and are not as versatile as a Jem.
Hmm...
I dunno guys. I will have to definayly try this guitar out before I decide.
But please understand that I'm not really expecting this to play like a Real JS model. I'm not really even a very big JS fan and I wouldn't be buying this axe Becuase its got his name on it. JS has nothing to do with me considering this guitar.
How would the Js100 compare to an Ibanez SA? the new ones that have the wilksons style bridges and mahagony bodies? I really like the SA's.
well, play it first, thats a no brainer.. if you like the feel, go for it. you can always alter the sound a little to move it your way. but play it throughout. leave nothing unchecked.
good luck with it
