I need some recommendation guys. I have a Ibanez S540 cusomt S guitar. Its got a maple body it has I believe the wizard I neck and the Bridge is Fly Rose. Its all gold plated hardware and the frets are jumbo. the order of pickups are humbuck single humbuck. Trying to give you guys as much info as I can hehe.
I play mainly reggae and ska with a little punk and surf. I want pick ps that can give me pinch harmonics pretty easily because my stock pickups suck (although it would probably be easier if i set the intonation up and had the neck straightend and frets crowned and filed) but any who, I play reggae so need a lot of treble but i also what something that could give me that old sixties surf-drag sound if yo picture what im sayin. Thanks a lot guys!
welcome to the forum!
the SH-4 JB is good for punkish sound (eg. billy joe of greenday) and has a good treble. i'm dunno how it sounds in maple tho. i only tried it in alder and mahogany.
awsome i have recommendations for that one. I ve also had sh1n and a cool rail for the center. how much does it usually cost to have'em installed? I need my guitar completely taken care of. the frets are so worn that you can see it clear as day. Do you guys kno how much someone usually charges to filefrets and clean up the fretboard and staighten out my twisted neck. Does anybody here know how to do it? if you do is it worth me going out andbuying supplys and stuff or is it just better to goto somebody? Oh yeah where do you by the file for the frets because there talking about some kinda diamond head and stuff. Thanks!
firstly wheres your location? i dun know whats the price like in the US. here in germany the bucker installation goes for abt 20 or 30 euro at the shop.
for the fret stuff, the more experience forum members will answer u
USA, I got a hold of one guy he told me het fix my frets neck pick up selector set everything up and install pickups for aound $150.00 whis is like what 110 Euro?
I would say go with the JB. It's good under gain and you can split it for reggae/ska.
air zone
or a JB
JB, my bandmate has one, also in an Ibanez S, and we play Ska/Punk, sounds great.
well.. reggae, i associate that with single coils more than humbuckers so i think you need a bucker that will sound good split.. a JB will get you into that direction
as for the neck and middle.. a coolrail and jazz would suit you fine

yup, thats around 110 euro.
for the 2 humbuckers with a floyd rose Ide go screamon demon bridge and full shred-neck model-for neck. Both pickups are bright and sound good when split-clean or dirty. I have a similar set up with my fender and a floyd and after numerous attempts I settled on this pickup configeration. now I have great clean and dirty tones. For a floyd rose trem equiped guitar and reggae, ska and rock tones you need medium power, bright pickups. Both thies humbuckers will work very well for you. good luck and let us know what you decide and how it works out for you
alright thanks for the help guys!!
