from : localhost/kerry king has his own sig. EMGs now. its pretty much the zakk set with a PA2. what i wanna know is when the hell did he start using an 85 in the neck? as far as i know, hes always been an 81/81 guy

I've always been under the impression he used an 85 (or a Sustainer) in the neck.

For as long as I've been paying attention he's always been using an 85/81 w/PA-2 setup. Jeff used to use the 81/81, but his new sig ESP is 85/81, so I don't know anymore.

Quick! We all need to run out and buy that set, so we can all play as good as Kerry King!

I dunno if I'd want to play as good as Kerry .

Don't get me wrong. I ****ing love Slayer. That's what I learned guitar playing. But the guys as guitarists aren't that technically amazing.

He'll sell a ton of those though, I bet. I wonder why all the sig Slayer gear has just started popping up in the last 2-3 years.

hmm. i coulda sworn he always used 81/81. oh well, you learn something new everyday now dont you.

i really thought he was using 81/81 but i seem to be wrong.

no he has always used a 81/85 set you must be thinkin of kirk hammett who uses two 81's?

I have EMG's n two guitars and i do not feel there is ANY need for a booster with them
I mean damn the 81 alone is a friggin gain monster by itself?
I do boost the mids on my marshall though

So, the booster isn't worth it? Is it a gimmik or something worth having.

It'll work fine. It's just hitting your preamp harder for more gain, same as if you boost with a pedal.

well it depends on your amp?
if you find that through your amp with the EMG's you need quot;MOREquot;
the booster will do it.
with my rig the 81 and the marshall is more than enough
