I've got a Fender pedal tuner that I bought on clearance a few years ago. It's great for a quick tuning on the fly, but it's really not accurate or steady enough for setting intonation. So I was wondering what y'all used. I've been considering Korg's Buzz Fieten tuner, since I'll probably eventually have all my guitars equipped with it. I know you don't have to use that tuner, though. I'm open to pretty much any suggestions, but I also don't want to buy a $1000 strobe tuner at this point. Maybe if I start making a lot of money off setups....
Anyway, throw some ideas at me. Just don't throw to hard, or below the belt.
I use a Boss TU-2 on my pedalboard, and absolutely love it. It's pretty accurate, can be set up to mute your signal while you tune, and is very easy to read on a dimly lit stage. There are also a few different tuning quot;modesquot;, though I just use one myself. Great little unit IMO.
EDIT: I've also set intonation on all of my guitars with it, and I feel it's accurate enough to do a good job in that area.
Peterson Virtual Strobe Tuner....Best tuner I've quot;everquot; owned...
Dont spend a $1000, get a Peterson for about $200!!!! Since I got one, I am a tuner snob!!!!!!
Thanks guys. I've read that those were good. Now hearing some real guitarists praising them, I'll probably have to check them out.
I've tuned so far with the so called quot;standardquot; tuners.
The first pedal I'm planning to ever get will be the Peterson Strobostomp. I'm just waiting for the cash to pile up.
I've got 3 tuners, a Boss TU-12, a Boss TU-2, and a Korg DTR1000 (or something like that) rack tuner. I really dislike the Korg. There's one thing to have an accurate tuner, but there's another thing to be quot;too accurate.quot; In other words, for the extra time you spend between bouncing around between flat and sharp, you're not any more discernably quot;in tunequot; than 98% of people with quot;normalquot; hearing would ever notice. I prefer using the TU-2.
FWIW, when I recorded at a fancy-pants big time studio, the engineer quot;strongly suggestedquot; that we use the studio's tuner. A Sabine 1100. You hear stuff from that studio on most every rock radio stations on a daily basis- and most of the guitars were tuned with that little old Sabine.
