I was looking through the different sd pups and i came across the distortion trembucker, has way more output then the dd or jb. just wonderin if anyone here has used it and how would it sound in a fat strat with alot of upper mids.

I installed one in a friends fat Strat and balance-wise it was very nice but it is fairly dark overall. The Distortion Trembucker is very hot, so only put it into a guitar that you want to play distorted with. It will take an amp with a lot of headroom to get deceint clean tones.

If you mean the PAtb-2 the only thing i know about it is that tony macalpine uses them

I have one in my USA Fusion, and I´m a bit undecided on whether I like it or not...I´m gonna replace it soon with something i quot;knowquot; tonally, then I can give you a better estimate.....my current Impression is very thick and crunchy, but not bass heavy at all, with lots of harmonics and upper mids.....too much upper mids for me, that´s why it´s coming out...

But Again, I don´t know how much of that is the pickup and how much is the guitar yet. The cool rails I put in doesn´t quite sound like I expected, either

Currently replacing it with a DImebucker, ...after playing over my stage rig I tend to agree almost more with robert than with myself.... will post update soon.....

Ok, now that I´ve tested it in 2 guitars:

It IS fairly dark, but it doesn´t have the quot;rangequot; towards the bottom that I like, doesn´t sound quot;deepquot; enough...I put it in my Rhoads (a fairly dark guitar which had the dimebucker in it before and was too boomy), and it fits her perfectly, because the rhoads lacks in exactly the frequencies that the PATB-2 accentuates...I was considering trading it off, but not anymore

And as a Side Note: putting the Dimebucker in the Fusion made her almost perfect as well
