Hey guys.

After all the problems I've had as regards fitting the Bareknuckle Pickups to my Gordon Smith (Routing issues, issues as regards long leg/short leg baseplate etc) I finally have the Black Dog (bridge) and Riff Raff (neck) fitted to my Gordon Smith Graduate 60 (Handmade Les Paul clone).

Boy do they kick the a$$ of other pickups I've tried in this guitar

The Black Dog in the bridge is perfect for what I want: openness (if that's even a word?!), clarity and power when required It sounds very full and, imo, doesn't have any particular bias towards any particular frequency band (Bass, Mid, Treble etc) It also splits very nicely too, which just adds to the versatility

The Riff Raff in the neck is also a nice sounding pickup. It shares the same openness, Clarity and Fullness but isn't in any way 'boomy' in the bass like alot of pickups I've tried.

This is only my 1st impressions of the pickup at moderate volume through my Marshall JTM60 1x12 combo. I'll be sure to post back when I've tried the guitar and BK's through my Orange head and 4x12 during my gig at the weekend

How does the Black Dog compare to like a Duncan '59 ( as a reference point)?

I know it may sound a little weird, but I've tried to not compare it to any other pickups. I just wanted to hear the pickup itself, without having to notice how it was different to a 59 of a Demon etc.

I'm sure I'll be able to expand more on my review of the pickups after my gig at the weekend

I WILL get around to comparing the BK's to other pickups, but for the moment, I think I'll just listen to how it sounds in itself and see how it fares live
