I played a Roccaforte Hi Gain 100 head last night: single channel, 3 x 12AX7, 4 x EL34, point to point wiring ....

That is one sweet amp! I have been lusting after a Budda Superdrive 80 for a while now, but I think that this amp is even better!!!

The EQ is very subtle, and must have a very limited range, which is fine; it's not meant to make your crappy guitar sound better. But it will make a great sounding guitar sound even GREATER!!

Nuance, touch sensitivity, dynamics, signal:noise ratio -- all were astounding with this head!! With my HomeBrew Electronics Big D OD pedal and VHII-equipped s00per strat in front of it, I am seriously GASing for this amp!!!

I wasn't suprised in the least to find out on Roccaforte's site that Steve Stevens uses their amplifiers ... that guy knows good tone!!

from : localhost/you have a dealer nearby, I suggest you try one before you buy anything else!!!

you know i always thought those amps would sound awesome live.

i have never played one but from the sound files i heard they sounded pretty damn good.

plus somewhere i think they mentioned that they are moddled after the quot; fair warningquot; sound. that in my opinion is the most refined Ed sound that still is mean.

Cool!

too bad here in Greece we dont have all the choices you guys do in the States. Plus if i picked one up from the US i would get screwed in customs when i brought it here.

oh well.

good deal!

Indeed...Steve is not only a monster player, but has always had some seriously good tone.....eyes without a face...in the middle..the heavy power chord part...def a tone I've always wanted to achieve...as well as the stuff he did on his first solo album and later with Vince Neil...

Steve rocks...they *must* be great amps..

I've messed with a few Roccafortes, but only in a music store. That 100W head sounds like a Vintage Marshall Superlead with an extra gain stage built into it. It sounds pretty damn good, but LOUD AS HELL! I was really impressed with their lower wattage heads.
Their 18W head and 50W heads would probably be the ones I'd go after, if I was lucky enough to find a nice deal on a Roccaforte.

I've heard two bands this year in which a guitarist was using them. They're definitely on the list of amps to try before my next amp purchase.

I'm in CT and just saw Tom Petty, the Black Crowes are touring with them.

The Crowes had a whole pile of these Roccaforte Amps on stage and they had them cranked up to a volume for which they should have been arrested for, my eardrums have still not recovered! I mean they sounded good, but as far as being able to discern quot;nuancequot;, it was so f...in loud that is was pretty hard to tell. I only noticed the Roccafortes because I had never heard of them and it was a long and odd name!

TP had the volume at a much more manageable level for an old fogey like me, didn't notice his amps but he and Mike Campell change guitars like underwear, he loves those Ric's! They had strats, a bunch of Rickenbackers, a cool looking firebird, Les Pauls, a white falcon and some other stuff I didn't even recognize.

Dude, you're right about that!! That head is VERY loud; but then, so is the Rivera ...

LOL, very true
Plus, his choice in pickups is great, too

The Crowes sounded very good with them, of course I took ear plugs though.

I'd like to give one a go.
