Hey all - based on some advice...and searching for better tone, I'm replacing my stock Wolfgang pups with an SD Jazz in the neck...and an SD JP in the bridge. I just pulled the neck pup...and am not sure what to do. The pole pieces on the SD extend almost a half inch below the pup....while the Wolf stock pups...are flush....?????? What gives????? Bad enough that I have to grind the mounting bracket to get this to fit.
Thanks
Typically the pole pieces wont stick down much farther than the legs of the pickup...I had a problem like that when installing my 7 string P'up, the carvin pickup had a flat base plate while the duncan had the legs and everything. I had to trim a bit off the edges of the baseplate to get it to fit, but eventually everything started working.

My environmental studies class got canceled tonight, so I came home and made noise pollution
This time I had my amp on quot;1quot; (no attenuation). It was about the volume of a rock band with a tired drummer
Tele with BG1400 clean, Les Paul with CC/A2pro, Plexitone pedal, Marshall 1987 RI
Well my boos asked if we could use your plexi clips

What SD single coils will get me the closest to DG's tone?
He uses EMG's
I mean for like his Dark Side of The Moon days with passive pickups. His old stuff.

Does anyone else have volume imablance problems with their pickups in a guitar?
Not so annoying playing at home, but playing live it becomes really obvious.
I have a HSS parker., and want to put a powerful sounding single coil in the middle and a softer one at the neck. is there any (easy and prefferably passive) way to even the two out so the volume change will not be so obvious?

My Les Paul (swamp ash Studio) is the best playing, best sounding guitar I have but some days it's a struggle to keep in tune, and some days it's fine. I've had my guitar set up by a competant tech who came highly recommended too. I also have a Strat and a Tele and those guitars have NO tuning issues whatsoever. Plus I string my guitars all the same way. Should I consider a new set of tuners for my guitar and if so which ones? This is the first LP I've owned so tell me, are they more prone to going out of tune than other guitars due to temperature and humidity changes? PLEASE, this is not meant to be another quot;lets bash Gibsonquot; thread, okay? Thanks.
If you've got a plastic nut on your guitar, then that could be part of the problem right there. Plastic tends to fray and snag the strings, at least thats what it seems like on my guitars.
I installed locking tuners on my LP, and it stays in tune real well. Check out some Sperzels or Schallers, as those'll likely do the trick.

I have an Antiquity HB set in my LP Classic. I love the neck pickup, but I'm starting to rethink the bridge pickup after putting a Pearly Gates bridge in my LP Studio. The Antiquity bridge sounds nice, but a bit thin and not as impressive as the PGb. I haven't had a chance to run the Antiquity bridge HB through an OD pedal, which might perk it up, but I'm wondering whether a PG, CC, or Seth bridge might provide a thicker and ballsier tone than the Antiquity bridge. What bridge HB are you using with the Antiquity neck HB?
I've tried the Custom Custom with both a Seth Lover neck and an Antiquity neck.
If you're looking for an alnico 2 bridge pickup that's stronger than a vintage paf type pickup like the Antiquity but will compliment and sound great with a neck Antiquity or Seth Lover I'd say go for the CC. It's my favorite of the custom series humbuckers and it's one of my favorite humbuckers. Lew

I know this is prob. a dumb question, but what does everyone mean when they say a pickup sounds muddy?
I take it to mean unclear, like it sounds like the guitar is mumbling.
one man's muddy is another man's warm. but, yeah, what JB said.

I really hate the sound of JBs, but I bought a junker that had one in it anyway. I just got my custom and my jazz, so I thought i'd sell my JB (bridge pup, black). Asking $55

I'm looking for a chorus pedal and had the opportunity to try the Boss CE-5 chorus emsemble and the CH-1 super chorus. I've tried both on my home rig and can't really tell or hear a difference.
Can anyone explain where the difference is, other than the tone pot?
