I promised stratman that after I got his amp I'd post a review...I'm about a few days too late to meet his one-week requirement but I've been a busy guy lately so I hope this will suffice.I've spent a few hours with this amp and have been having a good amount of fun with it. My first impression is: bass. Yeah, this thing can get a crazy amount of bass, but it never gets to the point where it is muddy, even when I'm playing through a lousy neck pickup.
I haven't been able to get any sort of quot;sparklyquot; cleans but I do imagine with a single coil pickup (all I own are 'buckers) you could get some of that sparkle clean sound. But don't let that fool you, this amp is by no means muddy and has a very clear and distinct sound.
The reverb is amazing. I'm not a big reverb fan, I must say, but if I ever need it (and I will eventually) I definitely have some awesome reverb there. I need to get a footswitch for it, though.My only complaint is that the normal channel isn't very loud - something stratman said would be something I should check into later. But at the same time, I bet I could get it mic'ed in gigging situations anyway. I love the normal channel as the best of the two. Very bassy and tight. Not a big fan of the other channel, but its still good.

Alec, GJ, Architect, Scott etc...
I've currently got a '94 Cu22. Whale blue (non-10) flametop, MaCarty switching, birds, 2x59s (can put the McCarty pus I got with it back in though). Some minor fretwear and tarnishing of the bridge, a couple of dings in the top and the obligitary ding on the smaller headstock point.
Great guitar, but I lust after a McCarty Soapbar. I'm after a maple top version, and would love either a teal black or faded burst model, but may be interested in a black or goldtop. Doesn't have to be mint.

I ordered the quot;Everything Axe Setquot; a couple of days ago from Musicians Friend and I am anxiously waiting on it to arrive. I bought these for my 1957 USA Re-Issue Stratocaster (White Blonde / Ash Body / Maple Neck). I love everything about this guitar, and it has grown such a part of me that I literally probably wouldn't change it for an original, but the only thing I wasn't getting along with was the pickups. Im into guys like Steve Vai and Jason Becker and Satriani and the rest of the gang, and I needed a higher output pick up, to get more of a shred tone, just the hard driven tone I am looking for. At first I thought of doing a complete overhaul and going with a HSH configuration, but then I saw this Everything Axe Set that includes the JB JR for the bridge, the Duckbucker in the mid, and the Little 59 for the neck so I thought I would give that a shot. I ordered through the magazine, and when I went on MF to see the ratings (AFTER I ORDERED) I saw that they were pretty poor (granted there have only been three ratings). This has kind of made me a little nervous about my decision. Would I be better off sending these back before opening them and inquiring to SD about some custom shop pickups? Or will I be perfectly content with these. Much thanks for helping me with my first post, I'll appreciate any help I can get!!! --Wilkie--
PS: If anyone has any good links for wiring guitars or could help me out let me know, its something I would like to be able to do myself if possible for me to do a professional job, if not Ill take it in somewhere.

Pardon me if I keep coming here for questions, especially about DiMarzios.
I am going to buy a set of DiMarzios for my RG350DX THIS WEEKEND and I need your opinions. I chose DiMarzios for this guitar for variety's sake. I'm putting a Custom and A2P on my Epiphone LP.

I was wondering on the lil hums why they don't have the same magnets as the bigger ones? I know the CS LIL Pearly gates has the alnico magnet why not the JB or lil 59? Is this about production (to expensive ect) or is it that since the ceramic is more powerful, thats what is needed to get closer to the sound? if thats the case than why does the CS LIL PG have the alnico? Can someone compare and contrast the LIL's and the regular humbuckers (ie..sound)? Why do they have different D.C levels (the 59' having 8.13K and the lil 59 having 11.5K) is this to compensate for the smaller magnetic field?
@ magnets: Becasue an Alnico magnet in that size would not have the necessary output for a Lil 59 or JBJr to sound correct, your second quot;theoryquot; is essentially spot on
Never tried a Lil 59 or JBJr in a similar axe to the ones I´ve had a JB and / or 59 in, but my impression was that the JBJr is kind of like a JB, tightened up a bit, with a minimal bit of single coil quot;snapquot;.... I must say I liked it much more than teh standard JB, kind of reminded me of the Custom... the same to a slightly lesser extent holds true for the Lil 59 IMO.... FWIW

Yesterday I had the opportunity to give the HomeBrew Electronics (HBE) BIG D overdrive/distortion pedal a workout for a couple of hours, and took some notes. Here are my initial impressions of the pedal. I will be testing it further today, and will have some sound clips up this week. I’m still trying to decide how to organize the clips since the pedal is so complex.
Quick background: I purchased the pedal at 30th St Guitars in NYC for approx. $250. All testing was done with a BKP Miracle Man bridge pickup and BKP Irish Tour neck pickup in an all-maple guitar. Amplifiers used was a 1985 Marshall JCM800. Cabinets used were a Carvin 1x12, Marshall 1922 2x12, and a slant Rivera 4x12.

I just wanted to mention that there was a post on the Yahoo V-Amp users group list about an impending MIDI controller interface for the Behringer V-Amp series.
They're talking about a month from now wrapping up testing and releasing it to the public. This will be a great boon for us Mac users who dig using the V-Amp with a much more verbose interface.
I'm not sure if it's an official release, but I did get that impression. This would be great f it not only worked but also supported the Bass V-Amp as well.

There new ibanez guitars any good? I took a good few months break from serious playing and practicing but i caught the disease again and i'm wanting a new guitar. I dont think i can last much longer on a Dean Evo Special. Its pretty but wont shred well SO...anyone know about this new series? They have infinity pickups instead of powersound. I'm looking at the RG370DX and the S470. How are the quality on the EDGE III trems? Ok enough questions. Thanks
First time in a long time that Ibanez expanded and modernized their line. I like a lot of their new guitars, especially some of the semi hollow bodies.

Alright guys, a guy here in town I was talking to (good buddy of mine, owns a guitar shop..his son and I play in several blues bands together)....has an old Vox Berklee cab that he had Vox 10quot; Bulldog speakers put in. I don't know anything about these speakers but I do know that I LOVE the tone of 10quot; speakers...now 12quot; speakers are ok, but man I love 10quot; so I was thinking about getting this cab and running it from the cabinet out of my Mesa/Boogie and running the 12quot; celestion in my combo and the 10quot; bulldogs in the cab, but I wanted some info on these speakers before I go doing that. Anyone know anything about them?
I know the best Bulldogs were from the mid 60's and made by Celestion. As far as 12's go, they'd be the same speakers used by the Beatles in the early 60's Vox AC-30's and similar/identical to the Celestion G12 Alnico Blue and Silver 12's. The later 60's solid state Vox amps marketed by the Thomas Organ company in the USA also have Bulldog speakers but most of those are inferior to the Celestion made speakers. I forget who made the inferior ones...Utah maybe? Don't know a thing about the 10's or who made them! Maybe someone else will chime in with some helpful info. Lew
