Do I use silver insulation tape? Put it under the pots?
You want to completely cover the cavity with whatever you use, be it tin foil, copper tape, or conductive paint.
OK. Thanks Dude!

made in 78' plays and functions flawlessly. the new re-issues are going for 150 and sound like crap compared to these originals. looking for interesting trade offers.

I'm looking for new pickups for my Squier strat. I want it to sound like a Les Paul and then an SG with the flip of a switch and to retain normal American strat tone. What pickups do you recommend?
(joke)
I've seen too many of these threads on here
OK, it won't sound like a LP or an SG, but this set will fatten it up enough to keep up with the Gibsons:

Had rehearsal @ Ultrasound last night, and I got to play the Diezel VH-4 again, this time with my Strat (1979 hardtail, Joe Barden pups) ...
Man, that is a sweet amp! Cosmetically, it'a a bit of a wreck, because the layout is somewhat confusing on the front panel.
At first I was using channel 1 for clean and channel 4 for distortion, but at one point I switched to channel 3 my Fulltone Full-Drive 2. It sounded more gainy, less 'modern' and was much smother/fatter. However, it was also noisy, so I went back to going straight into the head for the remainder ...

I've had a few questions on my site shredaholic.com about scalloping fretboards (as Yngwie Malmsteen did this), does anyone know enough about the process so I can put a tutorial for it on my site? And, if somebody has the 'scallopwned' pic I think I may have a use for that too
oh by the way, of course full credit would be given and any links to your site / affiliate referrals you want could go on it too
cheers

I hear good things about all these. I hear that a DS-1 modded is like having a $200 OD pedal.
Can a guy do better than a DS-1 modded? For a stack in a box like pedal to OD your fender Bassman a bit harder and earlier.
Let's say your local shelf has TS7, TS9 and a DS1. I want to do SRV like and still drive my strat hard into really rockin' mode. Is the DS-1 with a modification alteration the way to go?

Hi,
I have a Steinberger XQ-25A 5-string bass with what appears to be active SD Basslines Soapbars and a version of the STC active eq. The electronics in the bass appear to match the STC wiring schematic (plus a Mid cut/boost as well as the stacked bass/treble cut/boost pot).
The circuit board is identified as 412095 REV 3. The battery ve is wired to both the board and the pickup red wires. The bass has master volume with pull out contour switch, pickup blend, stacked treble/bass and separate mid.

I already have a 92 stingray that has a Basslines Pickup in it but I heard there a couple different ones? how can I tell which one is in mine and just for the record which one is the most popular MM style from ? thanks for any info..
my guess is that its an older basslines its a ceramic version. personally i like the alnico better. having one of each would be pretty cool.
if you look at the bottom of the pup, it should have a sticker if it says sm4a or sm4d. the d is the ceramic. if it doesnt have anything id guess its ceramic

Hey guys, I've been looking at getting a Mesa 2X12 Recto cab to go along with my Tremoverb combo. I figured they're good cabs and it would match my combo. However, I've been contacted by a person selling a Splawn 2X12 in my area (southwestern Ontario, Canada) for $545 USD with pickup. This cab is only 3 months old and looks to be in great shape.
I'm looking for a closed back cab to add some bottom end and punch to my open back combo. Basically I'm wondering is the Splawn a better cab to justify the higher cost? I do realize I'm saving in shipping however, and a Mesa cab could end up being the same price once it reaches my door but it will match my combo.
Any and all comments regarding these two cabs or others that are similar would be great.
