Alrighty...So I've had the EMB for awhile now and have a pretty good feeling for it and know how to tweak it, so I wanted to update my previous post/quot;reviewquot; and also provide a few clips.
First and foremost, I gotta say that the clip(s) aren't that great (and I'm not talking about the usual quot;excuse my sloppy playingquot; type of stuff...but due excuse it anyway ) and this is due to several reasons:
1) My recording setup isn't that great. All I've got to record with right now is a minidisc recorder and a few pairs of binaural microphones.

i'm planning to install a new pickup in one of my guitars tonight.
both pickups (humbuckers) will be wired to mini-toggles for coil splitting capability.
i want to wire it so that when i have both pickups on and split, hum cancelling will still be present.

I need a Jensen c12n for my Classic 30...
Does anybody know where I can get one for cheaper than Music123 or Musicians Friend?

Mhmm well yeah, for xmas I think I'll buy myself a wah. I don't know why. I guess everyone needs one really? So yeah... I'd like to be able to handle a lot of gain, to be easily modeable (hehehehe...) and to be able to just stay in one position for leads (to get this nasal like tone I love).
So far the contenders are the standard Cry baby (not the fancy model, but I don't know how it's called...), the ZW crybaby (considering it's this aspect of his tone I'm trying to emulate, I guess it really is the obvious choice) and the Ibanez Weeping Deamon (which gets great reviews and has more functions than the ZW).
If the Standard CryBaby can do that, then heck, I may as well go for it and end up modding it later. It's way cheaper than the others (about 60 pounds, against 80 or so for the 2 others) and even modded it could still be cheaper.

Have any of u thought about trying out a new guitar or amp that u thought was going to be great only to discover by playing it that the guitar it turned out to suck? For me it was a rickebacker 360. I looked at my musicians friend magazines for months thinking wow that guitar looks awesome, until i went to Sam Ash and tryed it out and i absolutely hated it. From the sticky neck and fretboard to the bright dull sound, the guitar just wasnt for me. Any of u have similar experiences?
I did once, but only because of the really old rusty strings on it.
The guitar was a Tokai Love Rock, and looked awesome on the wall, but played and sounded horrible because of the strings. It was really disappointing, but I knew as soon as I got it down off the wall that was going to be the case - the strings felt horrible.

I just got a used Invader, cause the price was right. I've always thought the Invader sounded too muddy, and after installing it in my Ibanez (which is quite bright) I still believe the same thing.
So I want to try some pickup modification on this thing. I would like to try putting an A5 magnet in it to make it sound more like a JB, or possibly remove some of the 3 Ceramic magnets to make it more like a Distortion.
I have never disassembled a humbucker before, and I want to know if there are any spacers I will need to make these conversions.
Has anyone here ever modded a duncan Invader? If so any, suggestions would be helpful.

I just installed an Alnico II Pro in the neck of my #2 Tele (Hot Rails in the bridge). It is replacing a '59 and so far I am very happy with it. Very nice chime and gone is the big bass boom of the '59. It blends nicely with the Hot Rail in the middle position and sounds great distorted on it's own. I played my #1 Tele to compare pickups, it has Golden Age (9k) buckers, they sound more like the '59 lots of low end. I like the sound of the Alnico II better. I use a Carvin MTS into a Dual Showman 2-15 cab so I have all the bass i need and then some with that combination. I would recommend this pickup to anyone looking for a brighter pickup in the neck position. Next I'll try the '59 in the bridge of my #1 Tele!
The APH is my favorite neck bucker of all time. I now have it in the neck of my double fat strat, Dean Hardtail and my Les Paul Standard. I just put my 59' neck in the bridge of my Lester to see how it sounds. Now I just have to get my amp back from the shop.
Yeah! Let me know how it sounds. I'm not ready to do it yet but will be soon.

I'm trading for my first humbucker equiped guitar... trouble is, I've never liked humbuckers. To my ears, they have always sounded like somebody put a blanket over the amp (flame retardant suit)
What would you suggest for the most lively sounding buckers... not necessarily bright, but with some air in there.
The guitar is a mahogany back, flamed maple carved top, with mahogany neck, 25quot; scale.

I'm really considering grabbing one of these now, as I've been looking to find a nice Strat. I've heard great things about the neck, hardware, and electronics. The only problem is, none of the stores in my area have one in stock to try out. I'd like to try one out before I buy, but the stores (understandably) won't order one into the shop for someone to just try it out.
What I'm getting at is: Since it is a MIM guitar, is the quality fairly consistent. I've only heard good things about the JV, but I know that the rule of thumb for MIM guitars is try before you buy. This isn't possible. What do you guys think? Shall I take the plunge?
I have played several of them and to be 100% honest they all feel, play and sound about the same IF you get a newer one...there was a while in the 90's where they were made from either Alder or Poplar bodies...I actuallt put a poplar and my alder one head to head and the difference was pretty drastic IMO. Starting in around 01 they are ALL alder...so if you order a new one it will be alder. Other than that they are very constant. If you want to buy used, get the serial number and call Fender with it and they can date it for you...that is the only way to date them, they use a different serial number than almost any other Fender guitar.
