Well I've got one in the Bridge and it's a really good pickup, but I'd like an even fatter sound so I'm planning to buy one for the neck of my Strat.... does anyone know how it plays with somewhat heavy distortion in that position?

Hi, this might be a silly question:
I'm always searching for a nice sound, currently i'm playing with the idea of 'jazzing up' one of my acoustic guitars with a jazzpickup (and maybe even electric flatwound strings or so...)
I experimented with a dean markley pro mag magnetic pickup (single coil) on my gibson flattop with normal 012 phosphor bronze strings. I was intrigued by the slight 'jazzy' sound that came out of it. Of course it could be a lot (!!!) better.

I just purchased a used guitar, alder strat body with a birdseye maple neck and fretboard, OFR. The bridge has a TB-4 and the neck has a Lil '59. I was wondering if the TB-5 would be a better bridge pickup considering the all maple construction of the guitar. the TB-4 sounds a little brite. Would the TB-5 sound uniform with the Lil '59 that is already in place? Any information would greatly be appreciated. I am heavily into more of the 80's type hard rock. Thanks!
There's 2 pickups that would work for you in that guitar. The Custom 5 had tight deep percussive lows, neutral midrange, and open airy highs like a 59. I know it would sound great in your guitar, so long as your guitar isn't TOO bright.
The CC works great in maple because it's dense in lower mids and the top end is slightly rounded off and buttery. Because of it's warmth and growly lower mids, it's a very full sounding pickup.

I have a Mesa Vtwin and think it´s too smooth. Isn´t sharp enought, without an eq is almost impossible to get a good sound.
One guy I´ve know that fixes tube amps said that he can tweak the pedal to get other shapes of sound. I think about changing tubes also. What do U think?

A want to get a delay that isn't too expensive but i want it to have digital versatility but have a more organic analog sound. I have looked at the Line 6 Echo Park and the Digitech DigiDelay and like the versatility (i have only heard sound samples) which one should i get or should i go for something different like an Akai Headrush I don't really like BOSS stuff (i find it too harsh and plain) and BOSS delays r expensive.
I'd go with Line-6 and completely avoid ANYTHING by Digi-Tech like the plague.
Yeh I thought Digi tech seemed to be too cheap to be good.

Well i know i have been hanging around here for a while and have trying to make a choice, well now it is certain. I just ordered in my pickup set as well as some gold mounting rings and some new strings.
I want to thank everyone who has responded to my queries and i will surely have a review for you guys when the pickups arrive.
I also am gonna get a lexicon omega recording system for christmas and so i'll post some clips for you guys. Just remind me and i will make something up on christmas day.

I have recorded at a friend's place in a tiny little cramped studio where you have to take your guitar out of its case before you go in because it's so small and there's so much stuff in there.
Now I have a Digitech GNX4 and I want to be able to compose / record and do some decent work at home. I have really nice gear in terms of guitars and amps, but I've always kind of relied on others in the tech area of recording and mixing. I am good with computers and have good computer gear.
Several questions : For one, should I go guitar -gt;effects-gt;amp-gt;mic-gt;GNX4 mic input to get best quality, or is it all the same to go through the amp modeling / effects straight into the device?

Well my Classic 30 is gonna be here in the next day or two, yeah I finally ordered it. I'm just wondering about the basic stuff like how long to let it warm up, how to let it warm up, caring for the tubes, etc...
This is going to be my first tube amp and I'm going to really baby it. Just want to know how to take care of this beast of an amp when it gets here. Thanks for the help!
Warm it up for a couple of minutes before playing. If it has a standby switch, USE IT, especially if the amp has a SS rectifier. Tube rectifiers tend to quot;soft startquot; the amp since they have to warm up themselves. SS rectos slam the tubes unless you use the standby switch.

I was looking through the different sd pups and i came across the distortion trembucker, has way more output then the dd or jb. just wonderin if anyone here has used it and how would it sound in a fat strat with alot of upper mids.
I installed one in a friends fat Strat and balance-wise it was very nice but it is fairly dark overall. The Distortion Trembucker is very hot, so only put it into a guitar that you want to play distorted with. It will take an amp with a lot of headroom to get deceint clean tones.

What Marshall head would, if at all, be similar to the Marshall rack JMP-1? I really like the Deftones tone on Adrenaline but despise rack systems.
there is not one...you would need several but in truth lots if the tones in a JMP-1 are only in a JMP-1
