Wattage question???
I play in a modern/indie rock band with lots of punk style playing with high gain overdrive.I play lead and have a 30 watt ss combo and my rythmn guitarist has a 40 watt ss combo. We're both are going to replace our amps cause the band is going to play in clubs and schoolhalls....
My question is: Before I buy a halfstack, is a 30/40 watt tube combo real enough for my situation??? My bandmate is going for a ss halfstack but I'm not sure about that yet ,he don't want to pay more than 500 bucks, but he could also go for a cheap tube combo? So what should I do??

Good 2x12 combo to run a POD live
Once ive found a drummer i hope to be gigging soon with my band. Im thinking of using my POD into a clean amp (convienience and good if amps are provided, just need the POD). My amp at home is a 50watt marshall MG series 1x12 combo. Im planning on selling that and getting a half decent cheap 2x12 combo to run the POD through. Im mainly after a good clean tone but good overdriven tones would be a bonus. Once i have the money for my tone beast tube amp of sort this amp would probs become a backup. Im thinking of solid state so would be lighter and more reliable etc. I've thought about a 2nd hand marshall MG series 2x12 combo. Any other suggestions?

Dimarzio Model P
Just reading the debate on alnico II vs V for bass and checked the Dimarzio site. They only state that the Model P uses a ceramic mag. Does anyone know? It's a great sounding pickup with a wide midrange punch from that I would assume alnico II.

Snarling Dog Wah's
Ive been looking into cheap wah's...
Has anyone here tried out the cool green wonder wah 2? There isnt very much info about it online. They had reliabilty issues a while back, but that's supposedly all been fixed now. How is it compared to a standard crybaby? Also, has anyone tried out the blues bawl? The propaganda makes it sound like a hell of a pedal...

Guitar finishing question
I have a warmoth body (SG shape, mahogany body) I’m looking to finish soon, and I had a question regarding executing the paint scheme I want to go with. I’d like to start with a base of Gibson Heritage Cherry and lay some Gibson Gold Top flames over the cherry. I’d also like to separate the two with a white pinstripe.

overdriving 5751 preamp tubes
i just threw in a set of 5751 GE NOS tubes in my blonde fender. Tomorrow its gonna get cranked. What should i expect? I try to keep things clean, smooth and quacky tone wise. I complement it with my TS9.

Please Help..my New SG Bites!!!!
I just bought a Gibson SG faded with the intention of installing a Custom in the bridge. I thought it would be just perfect but it sounded horrible. Since then I tried every extra pu in my drawer: APH-1, Phat Cat, Tone Zone, and Steve Morse signature. This guitar sounds very lifeless and cheap. I mean, c'mon, how can any guitar not sound sweet with an APH-1?!!! The same pu's sound so much better in my Hamer. Compared to the SG, Hamer sounds so 3-D, so lively.

what size resistor to drop 18v to 9?
I have some older active live wire pickups and i think the single coil sounds better on 9 volt and the double sounds better with 18. Can i split the 2 using a resistor to drop the voltage a little to the single.

FS: BBE Maxcom rack compressor/noise gate/sonic maximiser/new condition
Hey all! I have a new condition(all papers, box and bag) BBE Maxcom. It's a single rack mount, dual channel compressor, limiter, noise gate and Sonic Maximiser. It has a scratch on the top from being installed in my rack. Other than that it's brand new. It work and sound great. It was too many knobs and adjustments for me, so I know some of you will love it! I would have liked to save it for a PA but we all know the story of needing scratch for impending gas puchases. Thanks fellas! $125 shipping(USPS priority)
Heres the link to BBE for the Maxcom

Pickup Suggestions For SG200
Hi,
I'm looking to replace the stock bridge PU in my Yamaha SBG200. From what I've read this is a mahogony bodied guitar, though you would never think so from hearing it. Instead of the lowmids and mids centered sound typically associated with maghongy, this guitar seems to be centered in the mids with an upper mid peak and a bit too much treble and a noticeble lack of low end.
