I have a very strange problem, in certain cells, the formula displays and not
the result. No, I do not have 'display formula' turned as other cells are
operating correctly.
Here is a very simple example, I am copying the cell data above and the
first two cells show the formula and the next the result. If I replace ' B8'
with, say, =Proper(B8), I still only see the formula.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Charles

Are those cells formatted as text. Change them to General, then F2 to edit,
and Enter.

Hi Charles - it may be the Cell Format got set to Text. Execel is very
helpful and sets the format to what it thinks you entered, but it does get
mixed up sometimes. Check the cell and see if it says = B8. If not then it is
has assumed you entered Text rather than an expression and set the Cell
format to Text. If it has the =, still make sure the Cell format is set to
General or somesuch, not Text. If no =, still check the format, delete and
enter again. Hope this helps

I had checked the format and set it to General. I have got around the problem
by a simple IF statement. Very strange as it only those two columns, the rest
are problem free.
