Would get either in a 2x12 speaker configuration, just would, to use just one sound the clean side of break-up. I want to run one of these amps in conjunction with my Marshall JTM60 which I'd use for channel switching. I guess to make my clean sounds a bit dirtier and my dirty sounds a bit cleaner.

As much as anything else I want to do this simply for the pose factor of having two amps onstage, cool or what?

At the minute I'm learning towards the Laney simply for the AC30 reference (Hello? Brian May?) and the Peavey seems to be more in the Fender ballpark, just grittier. Not that I dislike the Fender sound, it's just that I have a Death Rattle pedal which gets as close to fender as I'm fussed about getting.

I'm going to try and do a poll, I've never done one before so please vote.

Thanks,
Benja

Go the Laney.Classic Class A tube Goodness mmmmmm Tuuuube

I'd go for the Peavey myself, as it suits me better. I used to have one when they first came out and it sounded great. But the Crate is very good as well. Try them both yourself as they are tonaly different.

I myself I am actually going to buy a VC-30 (Laney) and would be my choive for a sweet chimey clean sound and a creamy overdrive sound the peavey is a bit more gritier (probably better for blues) It matters what kind of sound u prefer

P.s. Nice Gear

I own a Classic 50 head and a Classic 30 combo.... my only complaint is i wish they had more low end... or Balls.... great clean amps i find.

WHOFAN

Thanks to all for the input. I guess my preconceptions of the peavey being a more 'bluesy' amp were right, eh? I think from this I'd definately go with the Laney. Although, things have become a little more complicated now that I've seen a Fender Bassman '59 reissue on Ebay for ?500. And a Wenderford (anyone heard of them? Any input would be appreciated) Bassman rip-off for ?200! What does anyone make of either of these amps?

Thanks,
Benja

If you live in the UK im sure any local store will have a couple of Laneys in there.. I did vote for Laney cause i have a VC50. FYI the VC30 and 50 are two different amps.. you need to keep in mind that when the VC50 and 100 were in production the current VC30 model was called the GC30. The 30s are class A and the 50/100 are both class a/b but i do love my 50.. Its no class A for that clean breakup and creamy sound, but i do love it.

i'd go for the laney in this instance, just cuz its more of an amp i think about as 'cranked into light overdrive'

the peavey i see more as...clean or dirty, but not mildly dirty
