wicked lester finally sold me his EVH set!i had been buggging him for months now and he finally caved!
these things are the best dimarzios i ever heard
the bridge one is a ideal tone zone, it is crisp and paf like but has more beef to the tone withoput going over the top and wont get muddy
it is to me a higher output virtual hot paf(which i also own)
the neck one is a higher output air norton and has this cool thing that when you pick hard has some single coil bite to it! real impressive!the only draw back is that they are not 4 conductor so i can coil tap but who cares these sound so good dirty i dont think much about cleans!
anyone else own these?

Did he used to own a EBMM EVH sig model or an Axis?

What did you put them in?

roadstar, you and Wicked lester should not be allowed to talk to each other anymore! You're out of control!

Yeah he kept the pups from his old EBMM EVH not a axis., these ar two conductor pupsa not four so i can coil tap.
he was honest with the person that bought that guitar
he told them i will sell you the guitar with a TZ and AN set but i wont to keep the original EVH pups
and the guy said no prob.
I have been buggin the crap out of him to sell these and finally i won! I have them in a RG 3120 prestige which is a mahogany/maple cap RGand it sounds better than ever, i really love these pups.

actually i am gald i stayed in touch with him now!
I sent you a Email BTW

I have an Axis with a Floyd Rose and the pickups are 4 conductor. I installed a push/pull coil tap, it's not worth doing, not a great single coil tone. Just sounds like a weaker version of the full pickup

Man, that's sweet. I love those pickups too. Wish I had snagged one of those guitars when I had the chance. Oh well. At least I can get close with a TZ and an AN. WL told me how to mod them too. I'm seriously considering a set.

anyone else own these?YOU JUST REMEMBER OUR quot;DEALquot; BRO!!!!!!

you get rid on them they come back to me!

they are the ONLY DMZ's i think are as good as any duncan

you can make a TZ sound like the bridge one and the air norton sound like the neck one but you have to do a tweak that i know.

I wont be parting with em anytime soon!
i thought the JB was real good but the bridge EVH is better.
it sings and crunches like a JB but is defintely more paf overall.
it also has even better harmonics

Yup, and thank you for sharing that info with me.

now you tell me that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sure after i pay you $170 then you say this!!!!!!!!!
nah man just messin i wanted the real deal anyways

No, you're not missing anything at all. I spent $100 to have a pro do the mod since I wanted to preserve the integrity of the guitar. Not worth it.

I love my Axis, though the neck is too small for my big hands. I'm building a korina bodied 5150 baretta and I'm deciding on what pickup. I have a Tone Zone lying around, maybe I'll do the mod.

What magnets do these pickups use?

Don't hold out on us!!! What's the quot;tweakquot;?

Originally Posted by PoorManDon't hold out on us!!! What's the quot;tweakquot;?you have to make the stud coil on the TZ have a air gap but the gap has to be exactly .024!
I have a trick i use to do this and it worked like a charm.

see the tone zone has mismatched coils(one at 9.K and the other is 8.6K)
this is the ONLY difference between a TZ and the custom wound DMZ evh bridge pup.
what i found out is that if you make the 9K coil have less output by creating a air gap it makes the two coils quot;matchedquot;
they both have the same wire gauge but one one is wound hotter on a TZ
on the EVH one both are wound to the same resistance
I do this mod for $15 to any tone zone
the guys i have done it for are amazed at how much it sounds like the EVH version
if anyone wants to mod a TZ this way either do it your self or shoot me a PM and i will do it for ya
I also do the nortons to make then sound indentical to a EVH neck dimarzios

Cool!

I've always been a Duncan guy so forgive me, but can you explain an quot;air gapquot;?
